Player [x] could not be found. The player must be in the same district as you.
I've noticed that more and more people that spam stuff that they know they will get banned for just district hop so nobody can /report them and have to actually go out of their way, take a screenshot, and e-mail Anet.
So, what I suggest is.. If a player was in the district within the last minute, you can report them.

100% QFT. I've been in the same situation, I'd love to report those people that spam you with whispers while they are Offline or Do Not Disturb or even Ignoring you, maybe if it was changed so you can't send people messages while you are ignoring them/offline/DnD. I had some guy spam me while he ignored me so I ignored him, he came back with a second account, ignoring me and spamming me again, so I ignored again, came back with a third, ignored me again and spammed, I ignored him AGAIN. Once i sent the delicious screenshots to Anet with a smile on my face I had never seen him on any of those accounts online ever again, and I hope he cried when all 3 of his accounts got banned, that's what he got for being a moron. I just wanna reach through the internet and grab people like that by the throat and squeeze. Wonder if they would act like this to people in real life? Doubt it.
yes /report should be more accessible
and yes, the easier it is to /report, the harder the punishment should be if its false or abuse
and to zahr dalsk:
yesh, the rate of trivial things being reported went up
but so did the rate of serious things being reported
imo...if the gw community is too dumb or immature to handle the responsibilities of the /report command
is it anets fault? or the community's fault?

reporting someone for having a funny name shows how immature the community player base is. almost no name is directly offensive, but because some soccer mom saw a monk named Hexualy Frustrated or Ho Lee Sh It. she /reported it.
so remove the /report all together. i dont know anyone who keeps local chat on anyways, its dumb

I HATE the whole selective rules thinking people on guru have.
Just because you don't have a problem with offensive names, language, or behavior doesn't mean it isn't against the rules that are clearly laid out for you.
"Speeding doesn't hurt anybody and I don't have a problem with it, so I'll drive 10 over.
Cursing like a sailor doesn't bother me, so Red Engine you.
Using coke doesn't hurt anybody and I don't have a problem with it, so I'll do it."
Etc etc etc. That is a bad way to think

Gotta be careful some what of having /report be able not be in same distrinct. People can start asking friends to /report someone or alliance.

Remember that /report (except for leechers, which is not punished by bans but instead by dishonor) is NOT a fully automated system. Real people (supposedly) look over your reports.
D
if you're having problems with people switching out of districts, just PM them and pretend you're interested in their offer, ask them for their dis to "make the trade" then report them
make sure you say something in chat (afterwards) like: "reported you for RMT (real money trading)" so the people from gw that check your report don't think you where really going to buy

Ugh.
The game was better before the advent of the /report command. Reporting someone meant actually going to NCsoft's website and filing a complaint, and thus only real problems were reported, not trivial stuff. I say the more limited the /report command is, the better. |
Stop snitching..I personally think that if your not being harassed or affected by someone spamming gold selling websites or being rude M.Y.O.B and change districts or continue what you were doing. I think its a waste of time to even type /report in an outpost over some nonsense. /report in ab is stupid too..I think the developers should just add a PvP-Afk that automatically logs you out if your afk in PvP for more than a minute.
Ps. no point in snitching though..no cookies for you haha

I think the report feature could be changed, yes. Would it get abused? Of course. Most things are. But it also might help to weed out more. Never know.
