I am thinking about getting back into guild wars but I am unsure if it will be worth it. I have guild wars, factions, and night fall but not the eye of the north. Im wondering if since i dont have the most recent expansion if i will be able to enjoy pve and pvp? is most of the new pve stuff in the new expansion?

do we even need another of these topics?

heres a summary. everyone is an asshole so dont expect some awesome community if thats wut ur waiting for. alot of pvp(higher up anyway) revolves around some of the eotn skills. rangers/monks in particular. ra is a joke so u can run w/e the hell u want in there.

eotn is mostly pve and pve only skills.

u can pretty much solo all of eotn wit heroes.

not sure if im forgetting anything else but thats off the top of my head. i quit a while ago also so some of it might not be the most up to date.

On the PVP front, Eye of the North doesn't add much other than some new skills. PVE wise Eye of the North has some fun stuff, such as a bunch of dungeons, new story quests, and some new armor, heroes and weapons. Overall, if you liked the other campaigns you can pretty much know what to expect.

Well PvE side you might be a bit short, because of PvE skills.

PvP you should still be fine, but [Patient Spirit] is a good monk skill from EoTN.

But try playing it again, it's free....

I got a copy of WAR Online beats GW hands down. Typical fed-ex style quests to begin with, but that's part of any online game. I'll 'return' for GW2, but GW1 is dead for me. I just check here every month or so for any new info regarding GW2.

Half of the Guild Wars community will be migrating on the 1st of january for the Aion chinese open beta... That is if you have a h4ck3d client.

If you didnt get wut i deid thur...

Guild wars is dead. No new content EVER. Good skills getting ruined, even better farming spots dying out. Constant grinding for 1 title... Yeah, go play a different game, or even better, dont play a game, and errrrr take the girlie out for dinner.

Play the game. Find a nice Guild. Socialize. Have fun with them. The latter is the best part about the game. Having fun with companions. Especially if you go PWN with them in AB.

Is this from the person who was saying how Conan was the greatest game??

On topc.. not sure what you mean if it is "worth it"... its a game, meant to be for enjoyment... if you enjoy playing it, then its worth it.. you have the games anyway and it doesnt cost anything to play... so Im not sure what the thread even means

- Some people are quick to declare any new MMO released as best ever and are just as quick to declare that the game sucks.

I am so in wrong community. Time to return to gfaqs...

Try a day of the game. There's not much more in EotN except copy and paste dungeons, 3 hours of "story" and copy and paste armour.

Alternatively, try Fallout 3 to try and get something new going.

I think he wants to know if not having EotN is an issue. If you just PvP, don't sweat it. There's nothing necessary from EotN. Just be aware of certain skills that are different in POvP vs PvE. PvE, a lot of guilds run the dungeons for items and Deldrimore points, so it might help to get it. It's cheep, like the Budgie, so go ahead and get it. Besides, it gives you a chance to outfit your Barbie's Playhouse(Hall of Monuments) with pretty things that will get you more pretty things in GW2.

re Malice: That was before he got out of Tortage and found out the game had no content. At least I learned from my mistake. NCSoft at least gave me a free Aion Beta/Game and CoX and Lineage games for my troubles with TR. I'll never get the mindless hours back from Failcom.

I'd say dont waste any time/money on guildwars. they just make the game worse with every update and they took a giant shit on HA. They also change GvG mechanics every month it seems and its EXTREMELY obvious the people in charge are idiots that really dont know how to balance the game or make it fun to the hard core players. but if you like grinding titles or playing pvp that caters to lame builds that take 0 skill then drefinitly play gw again.

Whoever is in charge of the big decisions on Gw had really dropped the ball for oh 2 years at least now. But I also beleive that the company got greedy and made a good game to suck people in then morphed it into a cash machine at the expense of the original fans. If you have been around and have seen the direction the game has gone, then you know as well as i what gw2 will look like.

oh they also added a Ha style emote for people who buy zaishen keys so rich people dont have to actully pvp anymore to try to look elite.Theres really no way to max the title by gameplay so gg anet RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed us again.

When was the last time emotes looked elite?

Winter 2005? Okay, okay. Summer 2006 tops.

And ever heard of "pay xk per Fame" running groups?

I suppose a big part of the people posting on these forums are people who are:

-upset about something
-quit playing altogether and have nothing better to do
-still play but are bored with the game and/or are waiting for GW2

Keep that in mind when you read the answers.

I would think myself that EotN adds some fun stuff to the pve side of the game and if indeed you want to pick the game back up again, I'd say it really is worth the 20 bucks it costs. But that's just my opinion.

Find the quote to that, please AoC was a good game, but due to serious lack of content past 40 it went into a never ending spiral of shit.

Now WAR I've yet to make my mind up on. Still got my free month to use yet.

GW is the best freebie out there no doubt, but if you've played before then nothing has really changed, and nothing will.

People don't really quit GW anyway, as it's not like you pay a monthly fee. With GW you don't feel 'obliged' to get your moneys worth as there is no monthly charge.

I've popped on a few times int he last 6 months, but logged out soon after. I achieved everything I wanted in GW. I played to make money and have a laugh. Made a few pennies and had a laugh whilst failing to be any good, job done.

If you want to start playing again then you need to set yourself a few targets. Gain xx title, or complete the game via a new char etc If you go wandering around willing for things to be like they were back in 2005 then you'll end up being disappointed.

Well it's going to cost you absolutely nothing but time (which i assume you have, else you wouldn't even consider playing this kinda thing) to find out for yourself.

You can get away without the latest expansions in RA etc to an extent to get a flavor for the state of pvp, but yeah if you want to get into it you're really gonna need eotn.

AoC was one of greatest games ever made ...

Potentially.

It suffered from a serious lack of content, too many bugs, and the initial amazement of the game did not last.

On the other hand, GW was one of the greatest games ever made as well, it just got ruined with seriously terribad game changes and updates, far too many to mention here.

AoC was terrible.

While it's combo/combat system was a great concept (hey swinging a stick 180 degrees and it actually hits the people in the range, sounds great) it was poorly executed. Not to mention it was so hyped up to be a WoW killer (along with WAR) that it was nowhere near it's expecations.

Guild Wars is a great game. The story was fantastic, and the instanced world was a great concept, and the lower level cap meant a less of a grind. That's why it did good. This of course being Prophecies, which is where Anet should've stopped the GW franchise and should've just added onto it.
