A Treatise on how to stop Botting in JQ and/or FA
1 pages • Page 1
No. It'd only start a cat and mouse game between ANet and botters. For other websites, there's bots which can extract the picture of one of those, submit it to a certain website like Decaptcher, and it sends back the word that's contained in the picture, which the bot then inputs. I'm fairly certain something like that could be adapted for GW...
R
Well something like that. Maybe a simple question like what is 2+2. Anything, there has to be something that can be done that would be simple for a human but impossible for a bot. It's really bad. Over half of the people are bots in my experience. My strategy consists of helping the bots now. If you get to the yellow shrine first you usually win.
R
Yes they can type words, but only repetitively. If the question changes they would not be able to adapt. Are we not smart enough to think of a device that humans can do that bots can not? If you don't like my idea please suggest your own. I'm trying to open up a discussion. I think the bots are so good, most people don't even notice.

Introduce random events a la runescape imo.
Yes, it's a crappy game and this and that (Even tough it ouclasses GW on pretty much every aspect BUT graphics, and I play both games, so I can tell from a neutral point of view) but Jagex (Runescape's Anet) maneged to destroy botting. There still is ALOT of botting going on, but remember, making in account in runescape is free, and doesn't take long at all to set-up a bot.
In Guild Wars, I doubt people will trying 1 more time after they got perm banned for botting.
Anyways, about these random events, it's a really basic array of minigames, which occure randomly every XX hours, and require some brain tought. E.G.: Kill the demon in the next room, and then a room filled with reg "people" enemies, and then a demon.
Bad example, but you get the point. Something a BOT SIMPLY CAN'T DO. Also, DON'T copy Jagex' idea to give shitty rewards, and actually make them worthwhile, so you don't iss off the regular community. (So many QQ threads about randoms on their forums it's not even funny, they simply ARN'T FUN to do time after time again, when there is no good reward)

about the whole botting part?
nerf JQ/FA, e.g introduce a new foe or something like that. maybe even something like you require 2 or more players to do JQ/JA as in pre-searings "across the wall" (although it screws up single players but hey, its GUILD wars after all)

.....Do you know what JQ/FA are....?

uh, theres a pretty simple way to ban the d*mn leeches/bots. Most of them leech for long segments of time. Ie "Remember Lots Wife" or "Jum Rock". These guys sit and leech/bot for hours. Just look for names that may not get enough reports during a round but who consistantly get reported every round and tada: every leech in the arena pops up. ban. kthnxsbai. It doesnt take much investigation to go ingame and observe ppl like Lot running his crappy bot script.
Still won't work. What happens is when the bot submits the picture, a HUMAN who's JOB is to work for that website inputs the correct answer and returns it. You normally have to pay for the website, though...

Your opinion comes as no real suprise considering how much time you spend leech-botting in JQ. We know you don't care if you get /reported as all you lose is the Kurz faction and you have maxed the title. No, you are there for the Balth faction for your Z-title. Leech-botting is a liability to your teammates trying to win the battle. This is why I and many in my alliance have reported you numerous times to help.plaync.com complete with screenshots, dates, times, and a description of your method and the districts you were botting from. We are keeping our fingers crossed in hopes of a ban.

That's when I hit log off.
