Skills Points. Yay?

My suggestion is that we do something with skills points (other than purchasing skills which once you get to a point where you have 1000 skill points that doesnt matter anymore) but i understand you can trade in some materials gold and a skill point for some random things such as a perfect salvage kit in EotN but why dont we use mass amounts of skill points to trade in something really useful? like maybe ten skill points for a lockpick. or any other ideas...im sure this has been said before but im just hoping for some feedback or maybe even a new patch.

5 skill points for a zkey pls. Logical value of a skill point is around 1k, right? I'd think so. Maybe 500g. so 10 skill points for a zkey. Make it so you're not dependent on PvP'ers, MaT predictions, and zaishen farmers for a super-bloated zaishen rank.

Let's face it, the zaishen title is more of a PvE title. The majority of zaishen keys monthly are obtained through MAT predictions, which anyone no matter how clueless about PvP they are can do. I can't tell you how many people with chaos gloves/fow/r5 or 6 KoaBD have flashed their ridiculously high zaishen rank. For sure a title PvErs are way interested in. So yeah, why not make skill points be able to be traded for zaishen keys? 10 skill points sounds reasonable. I think 5k balthazar faction would be easier to get than 150,000 experience for 10 skill points, but that'll keep it so the primary way to obtain zkeys (secondary to predictions) is by accumulating Balthazar Faction.

Farm solo to make 100k and buy 20 keys (at 5k each).
That farming gained you another 5 keys or so from 10 skill points per z-key.

Farmers would get double the benefit, and the only people with HUGE amounts of skill points are those farming or botting.

This has been suggested a few times, and should have been discussed in an existing thread, not a new one. Use search before posting an idea please.

I agree BlackBlood. i was thinking for a Z-Key, considering the Zaishen title is for PvP, would maybe take 20 skill points. lots of people have many many skill points so i was thinking it would all maybe have areally high trade rate.

Sort of, but at the same time I bet it's taken a heck of a lot longer to acquire those points. Sure, you'd get the same benefit initially, but the bots and farmers would get that total back in the 1000+ range a heck of a lot faster than you would. In the short run you're right, but in the long run MagmaRed is.

I wouldn't be in favor of the zkey idea, but I wouldn't mind seeing something like the original lockpick one... maybe even expand it to include salvage kits and stuff. Maybe set things up to work like the collectors in Factions and Nightfall that collect commendations and whatnot.

And yes, it's been in several other threads, but as long as I'm posting I might as well /sign here too.

Zkeys for skill points sounds decent, everyone in the game is already getting a free 50 or so zkeys just from the xunlai tournament, I doubt skill points will give anywhere near that amount for the majority of the players. 10 skill points for 1 zkey sounds fine, that gets me a cool 750ish zkeys .

Even if someone is botting, the keys they would get from botting would be completely insignificant next to the botting itself. On the other hand, players playing normally will get 3 skill points for each masters completed mission ontop of the skill points they get from xp. I doubt botters would really be getting more.

Again i agree with everyone here but i dont thin kzkeys would be the best because that s PvP thing...you would want something related to PvE...Lockpicks, Salvage and identification kits (as stated above) and other junk. Just leave that to arena net figure tha out

skill points are used for skills... hints the name SKILL POINT. balthazar faction is used for BALTHAZAR REWARDS... i think skill points r great where they stand.

Terrible idea ~~ This would create such a huge amount of zkeys that all highend items dropping from the zchest would drop a lot in price. Im not a hardcore pve player but my character has ~400 skillpoints (And FoW armor+chaos gloves which I got by SELLING zkeys from pvping). That is 40 zkeys, but it would be very easy to farm more experience, a LOT faster then you can get 5k balth faction (did I mention that some of my pvp chars have 10 skillpoints aswell??)

Well, you gotta look at it this way:

If you give lockpicks for skill points:
1. lots of money coming in since you can sell them to merchant
2. items that can't be acquired from chests rising in value
3. items that that drop from chests losing value
4. lots of QQ from people that have lots of gold, lockpicks or titles (wisdom, hunter, lucky, unlucky)
5. praise? from people who actually have lots of ecto and other rare items... and don't forget farmers
...

It doesn't look all that bad... However, the change will have it's victims.

If you give z-keys for skill points:
1. since pretty much everything can drop from zaishen chest, everything will drop in value
2. zkey obviously will drop in value
3. tournament predictions will not be worth time to register your vote
4. participating in any kind of pvp or tournament will not yield much cash either
5. QQ from everyone, PvP and PvE crowd.

Zkeys suggestion is much worse.


And in the end it's farmers and bots who are gonna profit the most.
There's probably more... and I can be wrong and miss out on important stuff, but I can't be bothered to double check cause it's 4 am here...

P.S. Of course the effects will have almost immediate effect, then slowly stabilize depending on how fast people gain experience and skill points.

Instead of something with high value that would instantly depreciate, I propose we be able to turn in Skill Points for Festival Tickets.

I'd want something in exchange for my many, many skill points, but I don't think money/lockpicks/zkeys is a good option.

That would give quite many players a few 100k instantly.

There should definitely be a use for skill points, but it shouldn't be Zkeys or Lockpicks. Perhaps something that isn't worth a lot, but is still very useful, like... you know... stuff... stuff that I can't come up with right now.

This is exactly the reason why it's never going to happen. Anet didn't want to make the new books retroactive, because it would give LG 60k (which they didn't care about anyway), but they are going to release tons of Zkeys? No...
