So, I was trying to make a Chinese guild, and I switched my computer's language to Chinese, and that didn't work. Later, I used a trial key to make a temporary account, and I put my region as China, and tried to make a guild. When I went to the guild registrar, he wouldn't let me make a guild that uses anything other than English letters. If my computer is set to Chinese, and my account is Chinese, why can't I make a Chinese character or guild name?

I'm not sure you can make an Guild using any language on a trial account.

If you can, then perhaps your IP indicated you weren't in China?

Your account language is determined by your IP region not your account region. You have to actually be in China to use Chinese characters.

Nice account name by the way

Didn't china and/or japan close the servers in their country to not allow people to be able to play guild wars. I thought that was a major reason in opening up all the districts. Atleast that is what a friend of mine told me. So if thats true...would that mean it's not possible to make a tag in chinese letters?...Yes I know there are other countries that still use pictograph as a writing source.

Go to a chinese/japanese district and see how many people are playing. They got better games than GW to play.

And go look around in pvp areas, and you'll know whether its possible or not to make tags in chinese.

Only thoes cdkeys bought in Taiwan or Japan can use traditional chinese characters as guild name. You can buy a guild from someone who can make a tag in chinese characters.Whisper those with chinese characters as a tag in game and I think some ppl can help u.

You are talking straight out of your ass. I worked in Shanghai last year and I tried to create a guild with a chinese tag and it would not work. I tried doing it on a friends computer and that would not work either. It is definately not IP related.

Did you create your acct in Shanghai or just try to make a guild there. If you didnt buy GW and make the acct there im sure you can see where this is going

you have to buy the trail key from that specific region, there are some services for GW money that makes an account then transfers it to you.

Yeah u have to be in Chine in order to have chinese letter OR wat i did is when u put ure text in Korean or another language. Go to the whisper in chat and ther will be "<Message>" in the foreign language. So if u do that u can have a foreign name and no one will ever know wat ure guild name means. ^^

Sheesh, be nice, people, ok?

Just to draw a line under this, it is not an issue for Technician's Corner. It is a regional issue, not a technical one.
