I realize that people have asked about a Very Hard Mode (VHM) and also about allowing all heroes parties. How about we do both? VHM but no henchmen - all heroes?

(I know it's not going to happen, but one can still dream, right?)

HM is fine. "VHM" would have to be entirely reworked to make it function properly, otherwise everyone would have to continually keep [Protective Spirit] on themselves. In my opinion, your "Very Hard Mode" is elite missions where things have the ridiculously high attributes of HM but have decent builds like the Charr and things in Slaver's.

/notsigned for complexity and more things to be complained about.

7 heroes? /signed as always.

Separately these ideas have merits, however, together they seem to defeat each others' purpose.

Given the right equipment and skills, heroes will reliably out-perform henchmen. Thus, creating a more difficult game setting whose constraints allow for a more powerful setup (7 heroes vs 3 heroes) would take away from the benefits of each.

but that's why it would be called VERY hard Mode... They would make the levels and skill sets of the monster so high that you would HAVE to put a group of heroes together that is very well balanced, otherwise... wipe out... That's where the fun would obviously would be - figuring out the build of an 8 player group in order to defeat groups of level 30 or 34 (or higher?) monsters

Keep dreaming. Anet already made it clear, and as a final decision that there will be no 7 hero parties. Regardless of the difficulty setting, they won't change that. Not even if our lives depended on it. Personally, I don't want 7 heroes. I want one hero and 6 guild buddies. That, I can already get and it makes game play perfect for me.

This.

Torment Mode? (name is a NF tribute ) /sign

7 Heroes? /sign (I would be able to use Sabway+Fire Paragon+Burning Elementalist, benefits of Sabway with constant degen and high defense ftw)

Combine the ideas? No. If a "Very Hard Mode" gets released, I want better builds *builds that sync together like in EN!* at HM attributes *20 points in everything* and half-party of heroes or no heroes.

If 7 Heroes gets implemented it should only be for Normal Mode/Hard Mode; if Very Hard Mode is made with the 7 heroes, then having 7 heroes in "Very Hard Mode" would be pointless and make it like Hard Mode, therefore removing the purpose.

BTW, its not so much 7 heroes as it is no cap on heroes. Urgoz and Deep would be able to have 11 heroes if the "7 hero" thing were to be implemented.

"VHM" would just be be permafarmed, thus breaking the "economy" even more.

and while you're at it make all foes drop crystallines...
sry nothing for me
just like the 7 heroes
no need to give another reason to title grind or make it even more a solo game...

It is very unlikely that you would need a balanced group. Do people do HM nowadays with balanced groups or with 3 necros + some henchies that dont even matter ?

Actually I would love the option of being able to use 7 heros in any mode. Its certainly not as strong as a group with real people and would help in hard areas/dungeons for folks that choose not to belong to a guild. I tend to pop in and out of the game and as such almost never do anything in a people group. Prolly join a guild at some point but as said, 7 heros would be a boon
for anyone choosing not to do so. Yeah, I know Anet said no to this...maybe in GW2?

For flamers on this: Its not going to 'kill' the economy any more than full human groups do and yes, I know it all can be done with 3 heros, done that!

Okay,VHM would have to be same as HM with 20 attr in every thing and balanced builds(like eotn) would take WAY toomuch work though. /notsigned

If you can use 7 heroes, its not very hard mode. Wtb 8 man discordway. Perma-aegis. 800 armor ignoring damage. Mass party wide heals. Ballsload of minions. Gameover.

People said the game was too easy and we need more content. Anet introduced HM. Bad players complained that *hard* mode was too hard, so Anet gave consumables and easy ways for bad players to win. So what's the point of making a VHM? So that we get more consumables that are ridiculous in power?

Let's not, shall well.
Unless they insanely modify the AI - even HM doesn't make sense.
You have PS.

/Not signed for HM itself.
As always - /signed for all hero parties.

People complaining about 7 heroes are just being as stupid as the people who complained that hard mode was hard. Anet seems to enjoy listening to stupid ideas and not the good ones. Like consumables and PVE skills dont make the game easier then 7 heroes without consumables and PVE skills would. Oh wait, yes the 7 heroes would make the game easier, only because of how bad people who choose to play in a group always are.

But H/H'ing is much improved now since they have Odurra Visions of Regret. The only campaign left with truly bad henchmen for HM is prophecies. The henchmen in all the other games are at least a lot better then most other players are.

There are plenty of ways for players to introduce higher levels of challenge in the game:

1. Don't use cons - including candy canes, cookies, etc.

2. Do 8-person areas with only 6 or 7, try soloing 4-person areas.

3. Leave the PvE only skills behind.

4. Instead of going with guildies, use PUGs

5. Don't use heroes - fill out your party with henchmen.

this guy makes a good point, but think the op wants some sort of title out ofit, or recognition of his achievments in a VHM
