Im curious to know if you come to either farm in GW or just play the game. I think one of the biggest problems in GW is how unstable the economy is. Elemental swords, colossal, fellblades etc etc have all gone down hill because of farming, hasnt it?

what if we make the reward for actually playing GW, doing missions, dungeons, quests etc, better than those of farming? i realize that the rewards will have to be carefully though out so that they dont become over powered.

Im sure that this will give birth to a lot of fail posts, sarcastic ones and just plain +1 posts that GWG is famous for so flame on.

p.s- keep in mind im not QQing that farming is bad or anything, just wondering do you really enjoy farming more than playing GW and what you think would happen if the reward for playing became better than those of farming.

Farming is repetetive and therefore boring for me. I'd rather play, but I don't even do PvE anymore. AB and on the rare occasions GvG and HA are about all I do now.

I PLAY and FARM. And I found both fun. (Can I have a cookie?)

Your economy will be stable if you get basic skins and 1k armor, and then you save every gold coin you get.

Economy is only unstable if you want a uber-leet-skin because it makes you uber-leet, and then everyone can get one, so your e-peen dies...

Poor system of incentives, marginally balanced content that begs you to exploit it with certain classes. Yes, it's basically a farming game because they've never managed to get much more into the scope of it. If you're feeling nostalgic though you might replay the missions with a new class or something.

I dont farm at all. Unless you call zaishen trapping every once in a while farming. Also RA for zkeys, farming. I get my money from playing the game.
Farming is just soooo boring and repetitive and bleh. I only farm if there's some item drop weekend. Even if I do farm it, its not more then 2 hours >>

I play the game and I get money from predictions. Only farm when needed, which is rarely. Sure I used to farm when 55 monks were the bizzness, but after I got ele vabbi, I never touched my 55 again xD.

If the rewards from dungeons, quests etc were better, sure I'd do more dungeons and such. I don't think it would hurt to have a few more pixels in my pocket :O

So I play, predict, get money, and that's how I roll

After doing each campaign multiple times (As I'm sure most of us have by now.), I find that I farm 75% of the time and the other 25% is when a guildie needs help or someone wants to do a dungeon or AB.

The economy seems pretty stable to me.

1) new item "A" is discovered and highly sought after = $$$$$

2) Players go for this item more than others because it is wanted, so supply catches up with demand. Price drops $$$

3) Players continue to farm item. Supply passes demand = $$

4) Item "B" pops up, Item A price bottoms out, Begin again at #1

The only time things go screwy is when a skill "balance" makes something that used to be difficult to farm become easy. See: ecto

EDIT to actually answer the question : I'm mostly going for titles now, so if that's farming, then I pretty much just farm.

I play and farm. If I get bored of one, I do the other. If I get bored of both, I play another game.

I only come online for doa with my guild(i would call that farming), and to say hi and have a chat.
The title grinding, missions and quests now bores me to death..

I only farmed to get my chaos gloves , 5 sets of elite armor and r10 norn ( I didn't use it since I got sick of farming ursan with ursan). Took me several days for the gloves and armor (perma mes ftw!). The rest of my gaming time was spent doing regular stuff and some funny sh*t with guildmates. I would say that I spent less than 20% farming.

I play. I farm when i need to (ie, armour, weps, dyes, Holiday events) I want titles, but i dont rush through and just do titles. But it might also help to define farm... I keep looking for oldschool FoW/UW/Ugroz/Deep runs - Obby tanks, nukers, etc- those were play and fun too! SF tanks and doing FoW in 30 mins or less while you wait for pizza is a farm. I would love to see some reward for those who just play the game. how idk, but i would love to see it.

EDIT: To Rhamia... yes. farming is playing GW, but not really playing GW. Farming is repetative. Playing isnt repetative, though to get some titles, you do need to Farm (rep, SS/LB, maybe holiday items) but the rest is just playing, doing missions for fun, not profit.

I find myself playing guild wars more lately, but only to gain the reputation/title points to make my PvE skills more efficient at farming.

Oddly enough i rarely farm, but when i do, i like to know i have one of (if not THE) most efficient builds.

farming isnt playing in the sense of playing. farming involves doing something repetitive for profit, where as playing involves doing something for fun and its not repetitive. of course in order to do either of theses you actually have to PLAY GW so gz on making perhaps the first +1 post on this thread.
