A/E chaos planes help

Hi I haven't played GW for about a year and started playing again, I saw this build to clear the chaos planes with constant SF + burning speed to kill the everything. I am having the following problems, the build suggests using lava font but if I do this any mob I am trying to kill will scatter so instead I just try to keep the mob continuously burning. This does work but a full run takes forever I would say to clear the chaos planes at least 40mins although I wasnt counting it could be much longer. Also my ecto drops suck from the Mindblade Spectres I have done 2 full runs and I have only ever got 1 ecto from them. What could I be doing wrong?

Does any one have any tips? Oh and my spawns are terrible 1 out of 2 runs I will be blocked by thoes annoying Obsidian Behemoths is this normal?

(oh on a completely different note when I last played an elemental sword was massively expensive how much are they worth now?)

Blocking from the Behemoths is just something you have to live with. Scatter is normal - I'm not quite sure, I haven't done it really since the nerf when everyone used Lava Font + MoR, but I think that you should still use Lava Font even with the scatter, they walk back into it.

Elemental Swords are worth almost nothing these days unfortunately. Over-farmed.

i do plains alot and everything you said is normal, or common. one ele swords are not worth much anymore. there easy to get.

to avoid scatter i dropped lava font for inferno. they dont scatter that way.

behemoths will block ya from time to time. seems when they do block you they go on a bit of a streak. like theyll do it 2 or 3 times in space of 4 or 5 runs.

ecto drops can be inconsistant at best. i have had runs of 0 ecto. But, i have had as many as 10. plus i get quite a few rubies saphires and nice golds.

As for the deadly slow process of this run? well if you figure out a quicker way PLEASE let me know. before the sf nerf this was very quick. lol almost too quick but but HEY we like it fast when it comes to our farm runs lmao.

Thanks guys I have yet to have a profitable run but I'm glad that I don't seem to be doing anything too stupid. I will keep at it and swap out lava font. Thanks again. I'll report back if I get it to work for me.

*Edit*

Ok well Just did a run no behemoths blocking me this time, got one ecto from the first room aatxe, killed 4 groups of Mindblades one ecto drop then major lag and death so a little better but still not up to the standerds of some people I see in the forums who claim to get 7 ectos average.

Oh one question how do you take on the mindblades the last run i just do one group at a time, should I try to agro more than one?

*Edit2*

Is there an assassin build that can also tank the smites? Just in case I want to duo with a friend.

Doing one group at a time is insanely slow. I usually kill three of the first riders and group the three spawns together.

For me, I haven't been able to consistently pull them back together after lava fonts. I focus more on keeping permaburn on them. I'm still looking for a skill to replace lava font, I've been using dash to help speed the commute down. I guess i'll have to check out inferno.

I don't see why a perma sf build wouldnt be able to tank smites, but I've found that chaos plains is more profitable and you dont have to split your loot. I've had runs that go from 0 up to 7 ectos. It's boring doing it solo though....

I've tried both A/E and A/Me, and the A/Me CoP build is much faster at bringing down targets, especially in HM.

Post nerf, my runs (chaos plains) are about 40mins averige with const burning.
Best run so far was 8 ectos, 2 saphires, white and a black. worst one was profitless (full run, with merch junk and money drops i got 980 gold)

Advice: forget UW, do FoW

However, if you were strictly doing degen wouldn't the only skill that they would use be the divine intervention? Or would they be stupid in trying to spam rofs as well.

Dunno, never did smites with degen. But my guess is that they WOULD be using reversal of fortune on themselves (Correct me if i'm wrong, but that would trigger ZF), and from what i've seen (VwK farming) smites always put up zealot's fire before engaging you.

Anyhow best would be to go in and try it yourself. Experience is the best teacher

everything you said so far is common cause behemoths are scatter spawns. and what everyone else says, drop rates are so undetermined in the uw and fow..takes me about 35min or so to finish chaos plains with celestial essence using E/A Terra build and to go onto pools with a full con to try to get a better ecto drops and eternal gold drops takes about 1 hour to clear. Most i gotten in the UW Chaos and Pools Clear is 23 ectos and 10 gold items along with sapphire and ruby and of course UW scrolls

hopes this helps

hopes this helps 23 ectos lol that would be awesome I just did another plains using burning flame got 2 ectos , is there any guides to doing the run you do? and which build is it you use is it sliver armor with constant SF? also what do you mean by "...chaos plains with celestial essence"

i believe he meant essence of celerity. hey badass i dont mean to hijack the thread but i have a related question to ask. is the pools the area just passed the terrorweb dryders? on the far west? if it is how in the heck do you deal with the black chaos jellyfish? the air spikers? id love to go poke around the rest of UW but i dont know where im headed. BTW i also to the great big flesh golem guys the necros. there pretty easy to do and there good for roughly 200 bones a run. amyways let me know how to deal with the charged darkness or whatever they are called.

thanks again Cronk

PS the sliver armor build i believe is every bit as good as the fire build. just my opinion.

to deal with the charged blacknesses, you get a bunch of aggro from the terrorwebs, but don't kill them, and wait for the blacknesses. aggro the blacknesses one group at a time while you have aggro and throw up sliver armor before they get to you. they should all go down pretty fast if you do it right. they'll still hit you and cause health loss, along with KD, but feigned neutrality should be able to make up for it. ward of stability may be able to help also.

Assuming it hasn't changed, lowering your HP to about less than 100 will stop the scatter. This used to work, and afaik it still does. Haven't done a UW solo run since the nerf to SF though.

Plus mindblades are ranged attackers now, so at least for me it's hard to keep an entire mob burning..
Plains are not profitable anymore (IMHO) due to the long duration to take em down (increased health) and the dependance on burning....
furthermore, you can't pull like 3 riders to one spot and kill them at once....

But then again how are going to apply the degen? A hex? They would Smite hex your ass to death. A condition? They would use Mend Condition and ZF you to death.

are we still talkin about plains? if so ive never been smited or otherwise been effected by hex or condition removal. everything is mesmers and warriors.

the midblades do scatter quite a bit. pre nerf the were melee based, which kept them nice and tight on ya. now they are caster based so they are more then happy to keep their distance.

easiest way to deal with scatter is to simply pull them around the corner of the many holes and bunch them up. once you have them how ya want them run up and position yourself right in the middle of the group. this will "usually" keep them in place. even then sometime a few will squirt out and run around all silly like.

Cronk I think its pretty obvious we're talking about smites.
