A new report system that is positive.

Read about 20 threads on reporting and most are dealing with reporting people no longer in the same location as you. If there is a suggestion similar to this one please close this thread and provide me a link, thanks.

I keep hearing about people have life interfere with gaming and then getting dishonorable because they had to leave the game or got reported for leeching. I have also noticed an increase in the number of lechers in elite missions and scammers have always been a problem.

I don’t want a negative report because what if something came up in real life and the person I just reported for leeching was not intentionally leeching. If anything is implemented were you can report a scammer, pve lecher, and so on that is negative you are going to have the troll that run around reporting people just to cause grief and that is why I would like to suggest a different kind of report, a positive report.

The person would type /report (character name) then select: Good Trader, Good PvE, Good PvP, etc… and the name of the person changes color that all can see or link it to a title (a title that I wouldn’t be against, didn’t think it was possible). Want to do a high end trade with someone; you could see if the person is a good trader. Going to the FoW, see if the person knows what they are doing before you waste an hour only to fail or find out that they leech.

Have it so the player could only report the same player once a month (so people don’t stand around writing good reports about each other), can only report as a good trader after a transaction, and can only report as a good player after a mission, and so on.

If you are doing a mission and one player really stood out and did a great job why not give the person a good review after the mission.

Did a trade with someone and it was a smooth, friendly, and the person did not try to scam you, give the person a good review.

It does have areas that could be abused; guild member / friends could give good reviews of each other, player could refuse to team up with people that did not show up as a good player (which is something I would support in elite mission areas), a group of scammers could get together to appear as good traders.

Really open to any suggestion but I would like to see the report system overhauled.

I can certainly understand where you're coming from, and I do agree, to an extent. However, overall, when it comes to trading in-game items for in-game items, there's really no way to enforce it.

Anyway, I can see how this could be useful, but for some reason, I'm reluctant to fully agree with this suggestion. I don't have a valid reason why (other than the fact that I just can't seem to like it). So, for now, I'm going to go with undecided. :-/

Good idea, but ultimately will phail. it will either be abused or ignored. And its a good idea, but just cannot work with the dishonesty of various players. And if you do somthing to earn a good report, does that make you incapable of scamming/leeching? Nice idea however. /unsigned

I have an alter acount.. from my alter acount i make my main acount look like Good Trader and scam every1
OR i make like 5 Good Trades Become good trader and scam every1
from my alter account i make my main acount look like Good PvP or PvE and lich..
i see what u mean, but if that thing existed i would be too bored to give my trade partner "Good Trader" points, so even if he made a good trade with me he still wouldn't get teh points

The number I was thinking of was far greater then five. Since you could only report yourself once per month it would take a while to get a good rating, even with 5 it would still take five months. Or a person could do a hundred smaller trades to get a good report then start scamming people. It has potential for abuse on the trade system but something has to be done. I had a friend find someone selling feathers in Kamadan, the player offered to sell 3 stacks of feathers at 6k each stack, the player then proceeded to put in 1 feather into 3 different slots. When my friend pointed out the player had made a mistake the person immediately started insulting him because he had wasted that player’s time. The person selling feathers was obviously trying to scam people but if we are given an option to report scammers you are going to have trolls reporting people just to cause grief and this would result in more work for the support team. I was trying to give an ebay solution without the negative impact but maybe there is a need for reporting scammers that is negative.

If I am trading with someone and they are friendly and provided a good service I am going to take the time to give positive feed back, and if you look on the auction site here you will see other people take the time to give feedback, both positive and bad. If buying something, especially high end I do look at the person’s feedback before bidding.

How many of us have gone into elite missions only to find out that one person in the group is the worst player imaginable? At this point you have a few options, rage quit (used most often), try to help them (have yet to meet one that listens), or try to continue on ultimately resulting in failure and you wasting your time. There is no way to identify these people when trying to form a pug (which is my only way of making new friends to replace the friends that no longer play).

I would suggest make it an account title so that it could be displayed.

Rank 2: Intermediate Player 50 Good Reports
Rank 3: Good Player 100 Good Reports
Rank 4: Excellent Player 200 Good Reports.
Rank 5: Exceptional Player 400 Good Reports.
Rank 6: Legendary Player 800 Good Reports.

Yeah it means people are going to have to pug to get the title and it has potential for abuse. Guilds / Friends could report each other once a month. People could sit in Kamadan spamming 1k per good report. You would also have level 20 players going back to low level areas offering to run missions for good reports. Maybe add bad report that subtracts from the title and limit it to recent teammates.

As for being abused in elite areas where players refuse to let people into groups that do not have a good player title that is something I see as positive since the player has not pugged that much or does not know what they are doing and will ultimately cause the team to fail. I would love to see someone spamming, “Legendary Mesmer LFG for FoW” because someone will have to decided, take the “Fair Ranger” or the “Legendary Mesmer”.

Now that I am not halfway asleep I can see a lot room for abuse and a lot of room for improvements. The current report system is not working. If anyone else has a better solution I would like to hear it.

Title? NO thanks. People will find a way to farm it. Will make it useless to determine who is good and who isn't...if this were to be used as a guideline to determine such behavior.

Plus, I see people using this as EBAY reports. Will sell, but won't send/complete transaction unless you give them good rep in return.

This is bad. "WTB Good Reports, 100g ea, pm me" or "Hey, alliance, everyone good report me pl0x" Big enough alliance, that's 300 goods right there.

I do see your point, but rather than the character "glowing", how about something like the Guild of the Week section of the Guild Wars website? Of course, don't know how long it's been since that was updated...lol At the same time I don't see a reason for this, some people would probably abuse it and just do some random act of kindness like giving away free junk they don't need for a chance to "glow" or be displayed on the site.

Kanyatta nailed it. This idea was brought up in a similar fashion before and shot down for the same reason.

If it were like a 30-second emote thing, that might be a nice solution. You could even add a status message of some kind between the two players that would say "You thanked Xx Yy!" or "Xx Yy thanks you!"

This is a nice suggestion (and a very positive one), but it still would not solve the issue for RA, Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry, since you do not "team up" with other players...they are randomly let into the PvP area.

Guild passes around an item in trade between everyone, and then each member reports each other member as a good trader. Yeah...

You know, while it would be nice to see people reporting for positive reasons, a title would completely upend the whole thing. If you want actual counts, then they'll have to be internal.

X number of people thanked you, or something, and you can't display it - you know, like the experience points bar? You can look at it all you want, but you can't display it.

Or the emote idea which someone mentioned earlier. I think that would be pretty cool, too.

Alliances like [KISS] would have each player with a max title in no time.

Ebay works like this: Sellers get money via paypal instantaneously then hold buyers hostage on their feedback until good feedback is received.

Lots of more room for abuse in a GW system.

After thinking about this and reading other people's responses (which are sort of decent), I can actually agree that this sort of thing is potentially abusive. I think that's the primary thing that has been bugging me for this suggestion. It was well thought out, I must say, and I see where you're coming from.
