[Dev Update] Tournament Reward Tweaks - 23 July 2008
To reduce the number of guilds who join tournaments and don’t play, we have changed Tournament Reward Point distribution for Daily Automated Tournaments. We introduced Reward Points for playing through the whole tournament to encourage more guilds to play through the entire tournament, but many guilds have abused the system by joining tournaments and not playing at all. Instead of banning anyone involved, we have added a restriction on gaining reward points from Daily Automated Tournaments: A guild must be at least rank 1000 to receive Reward Points. This does not stop a guild from joining a tournament. We will be evaluating this update and make changes if necessary.
All I have to say is "about time" for the AFK Zaishen farmers...
Change to Tournament Reward Points Coming!

Ohno'es for the [Oi] alliance, whatever shall they do now?
I'm assuming the 3 Rp's per win stands no matter what your rank. So your AFK beats the other AFk and your get 3 RP's, it happens, but less AFKer's will join now so AFk vs AFK battle wil have less chance of happening.
I still see a small issue though, that the [Oi] folks can exploit with ease.
Curently it takes like 1003 or so rating to get rank 1000. So simply enough you sync your AFK guilds, get a win or two and enter a tourny. The good news to that is that the CURRENT AFK guilds are screwed because their rating is VERY low right now, so they would need to create entirly new guilds, then wait 14 days, so yeah more trouble than it's worth maybe.

My only concern with this Lemming, is that there are indeed lower guilds (like us) that were planning on ATing, beginning (what a suprise
) this August. Following the Guru tournament, we were talking seriously about it, and we (following the resolution of some time-problem issues) were ready to go this August.
We enjoy GvG quite a bit, but the AT's massive time investment isn't worth it at all, save for the RPs.
I very much doubt that I can get my team to AT now that the tournament will be both a hassle and unrewarding.
I would have seriously preferred the ban idea they had.

So let's say for instance if a guild registers in the AT and are r1000, by the end of the AT they end up r1001. Will they receive the RP's? TBH judging by other things that happen with RP's for instance the person playing in the first match, ends up with all the RP if someone later takes his spot. Going by this I would assume they will be handing out RP's to guilds r1000 or better if your guild was sub r1001 during the registration.

If you actually want to learn how to play GvG with your guild then the fact that you will not be getting reward points should not even come into the equation.
ONTOPIC: I don't really see how this will change anything, considering how easy it is to get to rank 1k, and even if you fail that hard and can't get r1k, I'm sure you could pay someone to get those like 2 or 3 wins you need and then start AFK'ing again. Really seems like a short term fix to a long term problem, which never helps. I will give them credit for trying though =] they did say they would be monitoring how this works, so maybe if it doesn't have the desired outcome they will find a better more practical solution.

Especially if they are PvErs, they want a reward for doing something. All this has done is punished the actual people who could possibly earn the rewards (and hey, PvErs are going to have trouble getting into the top 1k, okay.), instead of doing a solution that might benefit those who actually play but not those who afk.
