Anet is Waiting for a Reason

Your view is obviously biased by your own preference towards GW. Your post would have more credibility if you interviewed some fanboys from other games.
that said, I do hope ANet learns from their mistakes, and doesn't screw up GW2.
With the addition of races, I only hope they will only impact PvE and not PvP.

Well I dont think Warhammer Online will be same as Age of Conan , the game has been delayed few times and its for the better. It has some very good and never seen ideas which will make a lot of people play it , and i do think itll steel a huge mass of WoW pvp players. As for GW i think the total absence of info about GW2 ,the new games coming out and the absence of new and interesting GW updates ( something better than HoM going account based ) will make the game population going down. And yes WAR will start the WoW's end ( Joking
) . If you have seen some of WAR podcast - about the pvp system , the guilds, the crafting skills youll definitely say " Wow ... " A game whit so much potential cant be f****d up
P.S. We need something to keep us play the game , so ANet should start doing it !

They will I assume do something about the bonus mods on weapons vs races, I have several +vs Charr and +vs Plants.
Would assume either they allow them in and create + vs Humans Norn Asura or block them from pvp.
Would be interested to hear from the pvp players if the bonuses would make any impact at all to pvp.
Most people have already made up their mind if they're going to get Guild Wars 2 or not, which says more about the pull of the original game than it does the mythical sequel no one has seen or heard. I myself am giving Anet the benefit of the doubt, because even though GW is steadily stalling, the fact that we don't have any info on GW2 is no reason to assume that what is there is bad.
They started over for a reason. This is a chance to weed out the bad design choices they've made over the course of GW's run, and the truth is that no one knows what kind of game GW2 is going to be. But I'm willing to wager that your love/hate of it will be primarily affected by your love/hate of GW.

That said, unless GW2 has third-party support for tournaments (even WoW has managed this), it won't be as much of PvP success.

That said, I'm still keeping track of what the devs are doing with this game, as it makes for an interesting game design case study. At this point, I no longer care which way they take their game, but it's interesting to examine what they think they've learned, and how they put their acquired knowledge to use.
Is there honestly anyone around here who bought GW for it's level cap of twenty instead of it having no fees? The only reason why i (and presumably most others) play guildwars is because WoW has fees. That's it. If WoW had no fees, no one would pick guildwars over it.That's completely out of the question. So yes, i DO love that Anet is making GW PVE a little more rewarding then that big, skippable PVP tutorial Prophecies was.

I'd hope so too, but then I realize that they even don't know what their mistakes were. Example- does AN consider Ursan a mistake?

You guys do know that it takes more than a year to make a good video game right? I'm going to guess that it would take at least 2-3 years for them. Age of conan took 5 I believe and its not even finished. Just be patient and wait till GW2 comes out. Anet doesn't need people to continue to play the original GW because they don't have subscription fees. If everybody happens to quit today, they'll still make GW2. Once anet actually releases information, everyone will get all hyped up again. So honestly, can you idiots stop with the "ZOMG D3 OWWWWNS GW2!!!!!!111" because you haven't even seen GW2 yet, and no one can really compare until both games actually come out.

I, for one, would still choose Guild Wars over WoW even if both were ftp. GW has an actual storyline (WoW merely has a lore backdrop for quests). I prefer GW's instancing, Hero/hench mechanic, graphics, skill setup, level cap, armor acquisition, and world creation over WoW. And I *like* WoW; it's just that GW is better in most ways that I care about. The absence of fees is an added bonus. The only reason I go back to WoW occasionally is that there has been nothing new from Anet in a long time. GW is at a dead-end for me.
Where Anet most conspicuously fails, imo, is in PR. Here it has been ages since anything has been said about GW2, and I think their player base deserves better than that. Blizzard, at least, knows how to drum up interest, excitement, and anticipation. Anet knows ... only the "silent treatment."
Even so, Guild Wars has been, really, the most fun I've had for the longest time in any MMO I've ever played (WoW, TR, CoH, LOTRO, etc.). I have every confidence that GW2 is going to be my first choice in MMOs when (and if) it ever comes out.

I liked being able to get to a level playing field without several months of grind (from the perspective of a non-hardcore player). I like being able to bring whatever character I feel like to play with a friend or guildie without having to worry about making sure our levels match. And, while you didn't specify it directly, as someone who enjoys experimentation I really like being able to overhaul my build for free.
