The only thing they need to improve: Marketing.
When the game is finished, or near completion, they should get on the ad-train and show us all the advantages compared to other MMOs (no monthly fee comes to mind). Make teasers, trailers, beta-weekends, hell, maybe even make a TV-Ad, you should now have the money to push your product.
If this is done right it will not only bring back former players, it could add a huge amount of new ones.

Undoubtedly, if it comes out before GW2 it will steal A Lot of players. |
And Titan's Quest looks like the old Diablo games. Titan's Quest is modelled after Diablo 2.
Maybe Blizzard is sticking to the formula that made Diablo such a success, you know, like some other company probably should have done with their game.
I wonder how GW2 will position itself between the competitors.
WoW and Warhammer Online for the more standard MMO type and Diablo 3 style games.
I did not like Titan Quest, and I will probably not like Diablo 3 if it is going to be like Diablo 2 or TQ either. As I was younger I liked the hack and slash, but you get bored of it, Titan Quest bored me to hell - I doubt I can get back to this style of game and wonder what Blizzard will do to make Diablo 3 a success without making it too different from Diablo 2. Somehow they always manage to have success.

I agree...the biggest danger for GW2 is D3. I know that some have the ability (and free time!) to play both, but many of us are of the sort that they'd rather get immersed in a single game than bounce around several games.
Timing may be a key here (i.e. which one gets released first), so A-Net may feel "under the gun". I know that I have absolutely no interest in AoC or Warhammer Online, so my fingers are twitching for one of these two to get released. At least I have Spore to tide me over...

Personally I'm holding out for the Marvel and DC MMO's as I was a huge fan of City of Heroes but the numbers in that game are dying although I had a great 2 years.
If they, or a sequel to CoH, hit before GW2 and are any good I doubt GW2 will even be a concern for me.
Also I think you will start to see a lot more catering to player needs and wants in the MMO market. If anything this has been the first real generation of truly popular MMO gameplay in a market where a lot more people are able to play and garner access.
I don't see WoW being anywhere near as dominant on the market in 5-10 years.
Not everyone wants to be an Elf, Wizard, Barbarian and once more realistic and quality options appear I'm pretty sure the players will define the market a lot more than they are able to at present.
As for Anet holding out I'm pretty sure it's to keep people playing GW.

I think, Purley speculation here, It is a hardware level. When GW2 is released the nahalm chips will be the "new" chip for gamers. I think that guildwars, graphically, is second to none for games of its age. I also think they are going to drop the bomb for graphics, that is 1 major thing that GW has, its beautiful. To hold true to that, it will have DX10 support(this does not mean dx10 only).
Just take a look at the "high end" (overhyped) crysis game. It is used as a benchmark for hardware. While, I do not think that GW2 will be that demanding, I do think that the "median" gamming machine at time of release is going to be higher than it is now. To truly satisfy and corner the market their game will need to be the best graphically, as it was 3 years ago, making improvements in expantions.

As far as release dates, look at Spore, the game that has been "worked on" for years and still not released.

If ANet is waiting for a reason, I'll be glad to tell them this...
It is better to be original than better than everyone else. Lately, all I've seen lately are the same situations with the same build up and climax.
You want an idea?
Try having a villain who isn't trying to destroy the world. Let's say he's planning to kill everyone except himself so he can be at peace and live in the world he's always dreamed of.
Unless that already has been done twenty times over in games, think about trying to be original.
Nonetheless, I have two ways to look at this:
1- GW2 will not come out, ANet had lied about it and eventually will decide that Guild Wars had fun, but it is time to move on to new things.
2- GW2 will come out, but it'll be nothing different we've seen before. If they plan to have something monumental, I hope to see things never introduced or thought up till now.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Simply put, I don't have faith in ANet... something just doesn't seem right.

whatever thier reason im sure its a very reasonable one as well as one thats been made for financial reasons as well as not over hyping or letting ppl know too much about the upcoming game and features. TBH this is good whether u want to agree or not is on you but its good bc its not allowing US to build thier game, nor rant and flame and make a game die even before its been polished or even released, and keeps true to the developers design. They are all well aware of every major complaint and suggestion for the game and im sure will rectify the complaints come GW2 as well but for the media to know to much of a good thing now a days seems to only turn against companies.
As for the D3 and GW2 talk of which comes out first and what will happen, it will probably go the same way most games do now a day, D3 will come first and ppl will flock to that , which in Anets mind wont be exactly bad as it adverts ur attention away from them , then by the time GW2 comes knock ppl socks off while fans come back and others grow tired of the games their playing and flock to GW2.
Last ill leave this thought another reason i think their is some quietness from them is definitely some probs in development , prolly small and well workd around but its what they are trying to offer + combating costs while trying to stay true to their original statements of no subs. Read any article when they talk of this and u can tell that there is something brewing that would probably make some of GW's appeal lose faith from its customers in the true regards to whats GOING to happen. As he simply states their not exactly sure how to pull this new one off w. the same motto. So keep us at arms length til they have enough content just incase this changes. For some reason though im seeing an ITEM MALL in GW2 of some sort .... idk y i just do something tells me this w/ some of NCsofts moves over past yr or so.

I'll be playing both GW2 and D3 because one isn't anything like the other. I was a D2 fan and I'm sure I'll get D3 if they keep it like the other only better gameplay, etc.. But since it's nothing like an MMO or like Guild Wars, I'll still be playing GW2. But fearing the changes to instances in Guild Wars 2 might keep me and a lot from playing it for long.
