It should beable to kill the Shadow Army Rangers and Abyssals at the first fort, but I highly doubt that is it capable of killing to the Cave Spiders. Rangers have high armor against ele damage. You should beable to clear the beach with A/E fire also, as those enemies go down easily. If you want to farm Cave Spiders use A/E sliver, make as many spawn as you can, pull them into a tight ball, and have your way with them.
A/E Sliver will clear the Shadow Army Rangers/Abyssal group at fort, then clear the beach along with the Cave Spiders. As for the Cave Spiders, Sliver will take along time to kill the last 1 or 2, so if you don't want to waste time, just keep moving to next groups. Can clear both sides of the cave in bout 10-15 minutes, or 20-25 if you want to be a bit more thorough.

great for you!
SF build with Daggers seem to work better than the Fire/Sliver versions. especially if you wanna annihilate the Shadow Army(including Monks)

I've cleared beach and cavern with :
GoS, DP, SF, Jagged Strike, Wild Strike (to remove MR), Critical Strike, MoR and Critical Agility + of course fiery daggers. The degen + dmg kills them quite fast. I don't bother with shadow army and skales, I simply run past them.
One last thing, attack those spiders that are alone ot just 2 bunched up. 3+ is a pain because of spring.

GL&HF get between them... if you are in melee range of them, they don't use healing spring.
i clear the beach and cave using the normal dagger build fro tombs...

balling them up and standing in melee range didn't work for me.. at least not in HM.. didn't try in NM though..
do you have to carry a certain weapon type for this to work?

do you have to carry a certain weapon type for this to work? You shouldn't. I've farmed spiders using sliver armor with an earth staff.
I find that when I ball up a massive group of spiders, I can't get close enough to stop the spiders in back from using Healing Spring. I tended to get better results letting the spiders stay spread out so that I could single out 2 or 3 at a time. That way you can make sure:
a) the foes you're concentrating on are not using Healing Spring themselves, and
b) those foes are not standing in a Healing Spring activated by another spider.
This has been my finding in HM as well as NM.
