UPDATE:

I went ahead and did it and I had quite some funny with the lengthly process of taking apart my armor, selling the runes, removing the weps and gear, using hero points, etc.

Have you ever deleted old characters or even wiped your whole account? Do you regret doing it or do you think you made the right choice?

When I log onto my account and before I choose one of my characters i look at all seven of my characters (Ele, Monk, Ranger, Derv, Sin, Necro, Warrior) and I dont see any of them as complete other then my ele really.

My ele is my LDOA character and he is equipped with the best gear, he has enough money, a couple hundred dyes and is pretty well recognize.

I then look at my necro who was my first character ever created and is approximetely 35 months old and who carries my one and only fow set which was bought at +4mil long ago. I see he has the most memories with him and the most title progressed on.

Then comes my sin, the overpowered farmer, and that super cool ninja dude. He is my newest character but even with only a few days spent on him he has racked in hundreds of ectos and golds and has made millions of xp as well as good progress with all the eotn content.

Now these are the 3 characters I find myself most attached to. I havent played the ele anymore but I feel like he has done everything he can. I havent played my nec in a while but he is my first and oldest char so he is important to me. Then their is my most active character which has taken the majourity of my attention.

So the question within the discussion is do you think it would be a good idea to delete my derv, monk, warrior and ranger? What do you see as the pro's and cons of doing so.

I personally find myself discouraged by looking at all these "incomplete" characters. I think if I had just these 3 to focus on I would be more motivated and could focus on reaching higher levels of progress vs lower levels spread across multiple characters. My intrests for the past few months have been focused on pvp and gaining wealth in pve (farming).

I have thought of some pro's and cons myself, tell me what you think.

Pros

-can focus better
-extra char slots for lots of storage
-room to roll pvp chars
-fun collecting/salvaging all the loot before deleting

Cons

-might at some time want to play a dif class
-wasted money on armor
-loss of those very expensive 1st year presents :P

If you took the time to read through all this thank you. So discuss your experiences and your thoughts on my situation.

This is my personal opinion:

I love all of my characters and I never will ... (wont) ever delete them, just for the effort I made making them and for the fun they gave me playing the game.

Perhaps having less characters will enable people to focus more and do and try better builds but we will be losing the fun of a new one, this is a game, to be enjoyed, after all.

Yea, I've deleted some older characters and replaced them with new ones. Sometimes I just didn't like the name or look I chose 3 years ago, sometimes I just wanted a bit of change. I haven't kept characters I rarely play around just for birthday presents, either.

Yeah, i deleted my year-old character when i was still sort of newbish, to change his name, looks, etc. It was the first character i made so i didn't put much thought into it, i regret that because his name and looks really weren't that bad and he would've been 3 years soon ><

It's kind of cute how you put so much affection to something that doesn't even exist. One could mistake that you're talking about all the memorable moments you've experienced together with your significant other.

Tried out the paragon when it first came out and didn't like it so I deleted it after about a week. Don't really regret it as I'm still "not feelin" the paragon.

I will never erase my monkie! Tough i did re roll her in September to get LS.

PVP toons on the other side have lifspans shorter then a World war one soldier.

I've deleted and created a whole set of new characters about 10 times over, wasting hundreds of thousands of cash in the process. Makes me sick to think about it too much.

I don't see how you 'complete' a character, personally.

I really want to restart my ranger, who I felt was made much too tall, but she has full 15k druids dyed black and Ranger Norn Armor, plus a blindfold and a Mo Zing mask,

and a Bow of the Kinslayer customized in her name.

but she's to tall!

I've made and deleted a large number of characters, but if they're going to get deleted it's usually within one or two months, so I don't really have a dilemma. I have thought about deleting my male ranger in the past because his hair has a kind of green tinge I didn't notice when I first made him and it REALLY annoys me, but he's three years old, so it's not going to happen. He gets a bandanna instead, haha.

If you don't need the slots, just keep the characters. You can still focus by plain not playing them, and if you want a dervish or whatever in the future, he's still there. Plus you can store stuff on em :-)

I've already deleted numerous characters before, for several reasons:
- First monk because after 2 months I just couldn't stand her face anymore. Was too ugly IMO. Remade her with new(and improved!) looks.
- Necro because I didn't enjoy playing the class.
- Ranger because I wanted more PvP slots.
- Dervish because I wasn't going to grind to either lvl 17 or whatever title req it is.

So yes, if you're not happy with some of your characters and think you're better off without them.
Go for it, delete them.

and she's always in districts with shorter, more average looking rangers.

if you decide to deleted any of your character, check how old they are before deleting, might be a few days before you get another birthday present.

I don't think you should delete your ranger thou, its one of my favourite profession

another option

buy character slots

I am thinking of getting rid of my Devish too lol, she has one death .... and my paragon as well, he also has one death rofl! but I don't think I want to start them all over from scratch ... damn you survivor title!

I've deleted all my characters before and its something I regret. I tried to recreate the characters I deleted but it just wasnt the same. Because I deleted all my chars I find myself playing GW less and less.
