Losing Survivor in Punchout Due To Application/System Crash

This has gotten frustrating... I've been trying to get Legendary Survivor on a character for ages and each time has failed. I create a new character, get it to Kilroy's Punchout where I plan to farm experience. The results:

1st time: Got to approx. 1,200,000 exp and my power supply blew (had to buy a new one)

2nd time: Got to 590,000 exp and my computer crashed (didn't restart and log back in time to save my character)

3rd time: Got to 500,000 exp and my computer shut off out of no where (monitor power was still okay so power was good)

Only playing GW does this terrible luck happen (and of course, only while farming exp in punchout). Each time... I logged back in and of course... /deaths = 1

Was just wondering... if anyone else has experienced this... or maybe I'm just incredibly unlucky. Perhaps Legendary Survivor was never meant to be for me (at least via punchout).

I actually don't disagree with this, but for me it does sort of serve a purpose:

Since I only own Prophecies and EOTN (and since I work full time and have a part time job on top of that) it helps me make progress in the Kind of a Big Deal title track since my game time/funds are low for other titles.

Of course... titles in general seems kind of pointless... but it at least gives me something to do.

Same. I'm going for at least Indomitable on my Elonian Monk through normal play. I have exp scrolls, but I rarely use them. Quests, skill capping and missions FTW.

Too bad people will go 'Oh *wow* you can punch dwarves...'. Surprsingly I can't actually do that dungeon, even on a non-survivor character.

To the OP: You're cursed. Try a different method.

You've not been eating babies have you? Because it sounds to me like you have some very bad karma. In fact the only way you are going to get LS is by making a note of all the bad things you have ever done and then remedy it.

Good Hunting for your next try though.

It doesn't matter how you earned the title. Doesn't anyone get that?

There will always be some angry little person who thinks titles are stupid who will piss all over your accomplishment. I don't care if you HFF'd or did Punch Out for your Title, you still earned it. However, because these routes are "easy" it likewise becomes easy for many people to say "well this title is meaningless and everyone who has it blah blah blah". And it's unfortunate.

Instead of dumping on people all the time maybe you should try and be more positive. You might actually feel better about yourself.
---

To the OP, Legendary Survivor can be tricky to get even when using one of the easier routes (Not as much HFFF, although it can be dangerous to get that far).

When doing Punch-Out, it seems that most people have trouble by encountering Lag. And when I think back to my 2 Legendary Survivors (Both of whom got it before EotN so I can brag a little more) I can recall several times when I lagged out. Luckily, I wasn't near a bunch of enemies, but in Punch Out you almost always are surrounded.

Here's my suggestion: When you do punch-out for LS, do it during non-peak hours for your ISP and GW as much as you can. But beyond that there's not a whole lot you can do.

Not very good advice, but I hope it helps. Good luck.

Either way, Survivor means nothing besides a little ego boost. It is the most pointless title in the game, and more often then not "Legendary Survivors" will quit a group if the mere hint of a wipe comes just to preserve their precious title.

However, if you really want it that bad, just HFF.
There are still those who get Legendary Survivor without Doing Punchout or HFF, like myself, course going on a paragon makes it easy to get survivor through missions. Capping skills also works wonders for Survivor.

To OP, I highly suggest another way to get suvivor if you want it that bad. As you don't have Factions or Nightfall, just getting to lvl 8 in Pre, *kill to lvl 5 then do quests is easy* then doing the missions till Beacon, then a run to Droks for max armor, seems the easiest. Then just work on the storyline, it gets progressingly harder but overall, its rather easy, especially with Max armor.

You could try playing the game normally, instead of HFFF or Punching stuff. That way, if/when you lose the title, you won't think "Aww and I spent ALL these hours doing this meaningless thing....", instead you'll think "Well, atleast I actually played the game".

That's what my BF and I are doing. He's playing his Necro, and I'm playing Paragon (not imbangon because I don't like to play a bot :P)

We've beaten NF and half of Cantha, and did a lil bit of EotN; My bf is rank 2, and I'm ~30k short of rank 2 (I get bored of a single character very fast so I switch chars a lot :P )

In Cantha, we pick up all the secondary quests since they're usually 3000 a piece, and same area. :-)

We do use XP scrolls and cap any elites we feel like. I don't like capping skills I can't use though, so... Meh.

Seriously, it's not that bad. If you're having a bad day, don't play your Survivor. That's all

getting a run to droks is a vey costly mistake as the spawn in the....2nd area(ithink) is RIGHt next to the zone

We all know that Legendary Survivor is no longer a title of any prestige whatsoever, most people just do it for an easy additional KoaBD title.

I'd suggest, if you really insist on doing it the easy way, to grab a spot in one of those faction farming guilds and do some HFF. It's safer. Ultimately though i'd suggest just getting LS the noble way, so at least if your computer crashes you have players/heroes who'll be able to heal you at least.

I (and many others) got Legendary Cartographer before texmod even had an application in GW. Same idea.

instead of doing the dungeon ...kill the worms outside of boreal---if you dont melee them they just stand there and die. you can get 300+xp for each one---if you use scrolls ??? If you think you are not good enough to go it alone bring a monk and a mm.....(thats what my survivor is doing now---though watch out for the pinesols!)....still 99xp each...and scrolls will double that in most cases.

I have a 2nd survivor who I havent played since she got to level one because of lag----and she had her 2nd birthday recently! (can you say mule?)

You probably need to fix your computer before you attempt this again. If you are having trouble doing survivor in boxing, you can always kill the snow wurms outside Boreal Station in hard mode with scrolls. It's slower, but it's totally foolproof.

LOL u lost 3 times and ur getting frustrated?

I lost more than 30 times already and I am broke already. The main reason for my failure? ISP Problem! I loose around 20k for each character for armor, runs and skills.

Everytime I fail, I always quit. But I am so addicted to it that when I logon again, the first i'd do is to make a new character in NF.

I'm good at boxing. I can survive HM even if i have 100energy already. But I can't win against disconnection. Too bad.

No offense but that sounds like an utterly retarded way to go broke.

I've failed a number of times but I've never even come close to farming for the title. First couple were just stupid (Lag in Norn Tournament several times) but my most recent one was complete bull. I doubt many people would bother to do this quest, but 'One Man's Dream' spawned this Ruby Djinn hero capable of delivering massive spikes.

The hero spawning was triggered by me rubbing a lamp, where I stood in a nice tight formation with all my henches and heroes, not knowing what the hell was about to happen. The hero djinn managed to spike down my 640hp 930k exp Indomitable Survivor in maybe 4 seconds. I see the health drop to 300 and then grayed out 0... Some of those damage mechanics in Nightfall and Eye of the North are complete bull.

Besides me ranting, I was just gonna say that playing through the game is actually a pretty safe way to get Survivors as long as you know what you're doing. Just today, my new survivor-to-be in Crystal Desert got hit by many waves of massive lag but got out of those without a scratch since the henches were there to back her up. That'd probably have finished me off in an instant if it was Dwarven Boxing. I've played through Prophecies and Factions (and Nightfall up to Vabbi) so many times now that I now know exactly what to expect for anything. Only drawback is that if you die... You've just wasted about 60 hours...

Anyways, if you decide to stick to boxing, good luck on your pursuits!

Ah, the power supply. Probably the single most crucial component in the computer, and usually the cheapest and shoddiest made part of it all.

Do yourself a favor. Toss out at least a hundred and fifty bucks on a PSU that weighs more than a half empty bag of potato chips and doesn't have its labels written mostly in Mandarin. The rest of your components will thank you.
