Defeating your Doppleganger in Hard Mode with an E/Me

This build will defeat your Doppleganger in Hard Mode in under a minute, guaranteed.

Water Magic: 16
Domination Magic: 12
Energy Storage: All leftover points in here

Weapon(s): Any staff with an "Enchantments last 20% longer" mod will be fine, but not necessary.

Armor: Max of course (60 AL) and any runes and insignia of your choice, it doesn't really matter, but a few Blessed Insignia could help reduce damage (if any).

Skills: Mist form, Empathy

Usage: As soon as the battle begins cast Mist Form, followed by Empathy, and watch on as your doppleganger commits suicide, remember not to attack otherwise you will also be affected by empathy, just stand there and cast your skills again whenever they're recharged.

*Note: I'd just like to clarify that I came up with this build myself, although I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the first person to think of it but by no means does that mean I copied or stole it from another source, so if it is already out there somewhere on the internet then that has nothing to do with me, and I didn't seem to find it on these forums so I though I would share it.

would sliver armor speed up the process (even at 3 earth)? considering that you do not attack.

U might as well be a E/N and use [[price of failure] and [[insidious parasite]

This is just what I used, but of course Silver Armor and anything else like it can be used too, the sky is the limit for variations I guess, but you can't get easier than only having to use 2 skills.

Do you "hit" with mist form up? Even if you do, wouldnt empathy do the same amount of damage?

EDIT: Spider, he does 0 damage due to mist form... PI would result in nothing but a wasted 10 energy.

Back then (2005) I just Maelstrom'd him and proceeded to Ice Spear spam him to death. Doesn't it still work?

there was some aoe change on doppelganger, so it might not.

E/Me eh? Use Blinding Flash and Empathy. He should go down in no time.

And Backfire + random skills should do it easier.

Blinding flash, dual attunement, empathy.

i found it easy just to use [thunderclap] and a shocking bow, he couldn't do anything for 20 secs, and died. that was with 16 air, 12 Marksmanship

Just used the green farmer build. Should be even easier now with the buff to Shadow Form.

or you could equip mantras backfire and empathy.. use backfire and empathy..ala wiki i believe
also works on primary mesmer
takes like 20 secs they use all the mantras cause the dopple is DUMB and backfire nails em on each one then they hit u activating empathy..if they are still alive

use the old 6 second troll farming build i did the dopple in 8 seconds in HM

Did this as a Mo/Me, although I only used the mesmer secondary, so meh:

12 domination and 12 illusion.

Might bring along [glyph of lesser energy], seeing as you're an elementalist, and energy can get tough on that bar.

I used /R for the good old trick - spirits. He still casts all equipped spirits in HM, so my level 5 pet crab got itself a nicely cooked meal, due to Mark of TROGDOR + Mind Blast
