It has always bothered me why the Luxon ar so busy harvesting all the Jade form the Jade sea. Why are they doing this?

-Do they want to free their ships/towns/machines that got stuck as soon as the Jade Wind hit?
-Do they want to excavate the monsters that got stuck, for displaying them in a museum?
-Or simply, do they want to sell the Jade for profit?

I know of a Canthan Trade Ship, marooned on the beach in Mehtani Keys, carrying a load of Jade, presumably te sell at Kamadan. But as far as I know, Jade (or Jadeite Shards) are only used in crafting Luxon armor, so there's not much use for this resource in Elona.

The entire explorable of Rhea's Crater is basically a giant mining operation, so there must be some use for the Jade. But all this for us heroes to craft Luxon armor? It's kinda overkill.

Any thoughts?

Just because the only use for Jade by *players* is to make armor doesn't mean the rest of the world has no use for it (such as for jewelry - even though jade has become so extremely common in Cantha, it's probably still rare enough in Elona and Tyria that the Canthans can make a pretty penny out of it).

And why can't it be for all three reasons?

Siege Turtles use Jade as there primary ammunition. So it is very useful in the war against the Kurzicks. Other than that we know weapons can be made of jade and armour. So this obviously bring in good money to them.

There are no doubt other ways they could use the Jade.

I think they use it as a building material, and the reasons you gave above at solid too.

Hmm...yeah forgot about the Turtles using Jade for ammunition.

It's true there are a lot of Jade weapons, but i don't see any of them outside Cantha...but I guess alot is happening in Elona and Tyria without us being aware of it .

Reasons I see for mining Jade *by both luxons and kurzicks*

Luxons:
1)Find Monsters frozen to sell/display
2)Craft Items *weapons, armor, jewelry*
3)Archeology Diggings
4) Siege Turtle Ammunition

Kurzick:
1 and 2 are same as above.
3)Needed to make Juggernauts.

I always wondered why I couldnt just sit there and cut myself some chunks of the Jade Sea

Its possible the reason they dont just randomly cut out slabs of Jade from the Jade Sea is because they want "perfect" Jade. And the sources for that Jade would be places like The Jade Quarry.

It's difficult to find high quality jade, the stuff all around you is worth crap.

Also, it's difficult to find jade infused with magical energies of the jade wind needed to create juggernauts and useful for practical applications.

Most likely. Or they could of just been digging deeper for something such as pure jade or something of use. But of course they never managed it which lead to their dark fate.
