One of the few true bits.

GW is for noobs to learn WoW?
Yes!

GW = Your school football team
WoW = All American team

GW failed when it went from a decent CORPG to a bad MMO.

In my opinion, that article made Guild Wars look bad.
Not as bad as your reason, let me tell you.

Still playing because....it's free? LOL

if i'm not mistaken that article was written by shawn from guildcast i believ he mentioned in his most recent podcast he was at massively now,

not too bad the pictures with article didnt sell the game really

about that mount thing, maybe he means by first glimpse that this is Anets little preview of what Gw2 will be like. the multi layered dungeons and mounts (Scorpians).

It actually does. By limiting PvP to arena conflict Guild Wars removes the issue of ganking/teaming/griefing, while maintaining a PvE and PvP game under the same (generally) rules.

The complaints of players unable to deal with this system, or generally disliking it, do not invalidate it as an overall success.

I don't understand most of the comments. Personally it feels like a big "meh" to me, but I think it is aimed at people that have not played in a long, long time (as evidenced by at least the two first comments, did not read more after that).

The thing I don't get here is the vinegar. I mean the writing is mostly on par for what Massively delivers. So are you all subconsciously holding this article to a higher standard because it deals with Guild Wars (and you are here in this forum)?

I am intrigued with the one poster's theory about A.Net trying to stir the pot a little and then lay down GW2 news. We will see what we see I guess.

About GWEN:

Personally, we think no matter which chapter or chapters you decide to assemble for your own GW experience, Eye of the North is a welcome supplement to enhance the overall experience.
I think it's a nicer way to say ,,buy EotN or gtfo''.

Theres something that caught my eye in that :

"Eye of the North uses all of the features of previous chapters and wraps them in a shiny new shell, including our first glimpses into different ally races,RIDABLE MOUNTS and multi-layer dungeons"

Edit: Sorry Sab didnt see your post there

Guild Wars yet? You're thinking maybe three years after launch is a bit late? Nah, you're just in time!
...to miss any chance at ever having enough money to do the HOM, the only thing anybody in this game still cares about.

...to never actually play the game with any humans.

...to never actually play the game with any challenge.

...to never get anywhere in PvP beyond "average".

...get abused and called a n00b everywhere you go as you try to learn the system.

That's a funny thing to say about a game in which most of the content was created with the help of the Windows clipboard.... why doesn't he just be honest: most of EotN is just a bunch of reskins and you won't really find anything particularly interesting or new in it.

But even within these persistent areas, there are multiple districts for each city or outpost.
...ensuring that the already bad trade and grouping systems are made into incomprehensible and outright painful disasters....

Crap article is crap.

Other games did it better. It's called "choosing which type of server you want to play on". Let's everyone play how they want...

I don't have any context because I've never read anything else they did. If this is typical of Massively, all it says to me is that Massively is full of garbage.

Considering they specifically said in the opening paragraph:

We're here now to explain a bit about ArenaNet's masterpiece, targeted at someone who has only heard of Guild Wars, but never actually played it.
I think that was the point.

They are great for news and interviews, and mostly suck when they do stuff like this. YMMV.

Well no harm in promoting Guild Wars 1 but yeah, totally agree. If you're an online gamer and you haven't heard of Guild Wars in the past 3 years then something is wrong
