There has been lots of discussion recently on how fast can a team clear an elite Area. So the DVDF alliance has decided to sponsor a timed NORMAL MODE UNDERWORLD Clear.

We chose NM because it allows more choice of team build, opens it up to more teams and yet still requires a reasonable degree of skill and tactics to complete in a good time

The Event will Start on April 12th starting at 17:00 GMT and end When the last team has completed their runs. Which will be no later than 08:00 GMT on Sunday 13th.

The Rules will be

1. No PvE skills. Teams that use PvE skills will be disqualified. E.g No Ursan, Save yourself, TNTF etc etc
2. No teams containing DVDF members will be allowed(this is so as to ensure demonstrable impartiality)
3. No Heroes. I.e Human players only.
4. A maximum of two restarts are allowed. As soon as a team completes UW, that then becomes their final time.
5. All teams must have 1 DVDF referee in them. Should the referee error out then the team must restart(clock starts from zero in this case and it does not count as a restart(see rule 4))
6. Timer starts as soon as the first monster is aggro'd
7. Timer ends as soon as the victory message appears.
8. Ressing the referee at the end would be a nice gesture.
9. Teams can keep whatever drops.
10. Since we cannot fully police the use of consumables, reluctantly they are allowed.
11. Teams have 30 minutes to prepare for their attempt once formed up.
12. Teams that exceed their start time by 30 mins(unless delayed by a referee) will be required to start anyway with what players they have, or forfiet their run.
13. Team leaders will be given the name of their referee and a confirmed start time at a minimum 30 mins before. This gives teams at least an hour to form up.
14. The Teams will pay the entry fee to UW.
15. Teams MUST follow the referees directions.

Since every team has to have a referee, the team size has to be a maximum of SEVEN. So your build and tactics will need to be built to that team size.

Remember SEVEN people is the most you can bring

In test runs the average time we have found for a seven person, no PvE skills clear is around 52 minutes. This isn’t presented as a target but as a guideline to help people plan and schedule their attempt.

The prizes
Prizes for the fastest run will be
  • 100 lockpicks per person equates to 125K, per person
  • Second prize will be 25 picks+5e each second prize. Equates to about 55K per person
  • Third Prize will be 3rd 40K cash per player

To add to the fun nature of the event, the following prizes will also be available.
  • The team that demonstrates the most innovative build/tactics that manages to complete the UW will get 10K per player
  • The team who demonstrates the most heroism(e.g successfully soloing 4 horsemen when all the team are dead etc) in the run will receive a purple Crystalline sword(Q13 15-22,dmg+14%(ench) and Ench lasts 17% longer) as a team prize plus 2 ecto per player
In all cases the decision of the judges is final.
The Results will be announced Monday 14th April, no indication of the winning times will be given until the result is announced.

Because each time requires a referee the number of team slots is limited. There will be 28 teams, 14 posted on GWO and 14 posted on Guru and you may have to wait for a referee to be free before you can start, so please be patient.

Please reply in the post the following
1. Slot number
2. Team name
3. In game contact name
4. Timezone and preferred start time

Please remember that spaces are limited, so dont just rush to fill in a spot. Only do so if you KNOW you can get a team to compete, also if you register here there is no need to do so on GWO.

I’ve taken the liberty of adding a few guilds who seem to do this sort of thing regually as I figure they might enjoy a head to head challenge. If they dont't feel able to participate let me know and i'll free the slots up.

Thank you very much DVDF guys for taking the time and effort to organize all this.

We in [LOD] are very excited about this, and are currently discussing the most suitable time for us, as well as the availabilty of our core team on that specfic date.

We will keep you guys updated, and once again we appreciate the chance to have so much fun and friendly competetion with the rest of the fine guilds taking part in this.

this would be a lot more interesting without:

10. Since we cannot fully police the use of consumables, reluctantly they are allowed.

The big purple swirls, rocket pace, etc are generally a good indication of when people have popped a consumable.

In an ideal world, yup I would not want to run consumables. But, for example, when people are running a split, it's easy for the observer to miss the use of a consumable(especially an individual one) in another part of the team. Zoomy speed is easy to spot. But other effects(once used) are not. Basically it was too easy to cheat.

Just to answer a couple of questions, asked elsewhere. The list is first come first served and will be locked at 20:00 GMT Friday 11th. If people want to drop out before then please say so before that time , so others have chance to claim the spot.

Good luck all

Will the referee participate? I'm guessing not, because of

8. Ressing the referee at the end would be a nice gesture.
It'll be a 7-man team build then? But well, UW clearing has been done with less, and the "dead" referee can then observe the rest of the team properly. There is no other way (that I know of) to observe a run, too.

That being said, this is a generous gesture by your alliance. I especially like the barring of PVE skills, and the prizes on top of what the team'll get from the UW end-chest. Wish Challenge Missions were this rewarding

Yes the referee will die at the earliest, safest time. Probably just after the chamber is cleared. Before that they will hide behind Benton and offer no assistance or advice to the team. Other than what is required of them.

Maybe better, referee kills himself with a vampiric waepon, so he is of no influence in the match.

Sha, SMS should definitely give this a shot. Prove we aren't incompetent without the imbagon as some are starting to believe lol. Preferably we should schedule a time after midnight EST...

BiP > Vamp weapon.
That is, if the ref can go N/X or X/N

I don't think the way the refree kills himself is going to be a big deal, no matter which way he uses as long as the counter starts only when the guild team gets aggro as indicated in the OP.

Just wanted some clarification: It seems like the ref is just going to be a passive observer, so what directions would he/she have?

Way to die: AtB + BIP FTW :P

Yes, they will be totally passive. The sorts of instructions I'm talking about are "you have 10 minutes before you have to start.. " or "You may start when ready" or "You have one more attempt left" etc
