FoW Obsidian Shard Drops

First off, I wasn’t sure where to put this, so I put it here since I saw other threads about drops. Also, this is not about farming, but about drops.

My curiosity comes from the fact that over this past weekend, I did a three man FoW clear with heroes, and the number of obsidian shard drops was two. I mean the three of us did all eleven quests, spawned the FoW chest, and the number of obsidian shards dropped outside of the final chest was two. Granted, we did NOT do this for the obsidian shards (please understand that before you reply stating I should go farm somewhere else), but rather just to do it for the sake of doing it. I just assumed going in that more then two obsidian shards should drop, I was just surprised it was only two; I mean that’s what the FoW is known for.

Since I never tried to farm the FOW for shards personally, I was wondering if those that do are seeing fewer drops of shards. Feel free to post your thoughts, and let me know if this has happened to you. Again, I don’t care that much there were only two, just more curious on why there was only two.

Out of the 6 8-man HM FoW clears I've done in the past few days, there were at least 30 shards that dropped all together, probably more. I'm guessing it has something to do with loot scaling.

I used to get plenty when i used to solo the beach regularly.. havent been down there for ages so i dont know what its like now.

Considering heroes made up majority of your party it isnt surprising that you're drops were low.

I recently went with a full party of 8 alliancemates, in normal mode, and everyone got at least two shards, and at least 4 of us had 3 shards at the end.
No farming just doing quests.

All good points, I guess I just had this false illusion that obsidian shards just rained down in the FoW lol. I also wonder though if the chocolate bunnies and golden eggs that dropped threw off the loot? We each got about 20 of each one.

I did FoW NM clear with a guildie+heroes, and we each got one shard, from the end chest. *pushes Hayda, Morgahn, Dunkoro, MoW, Livia, and Olias off a cliff discreetly* I was not happy.

I got 5 shards in one FoW HM run (only quests) yesterday.
Ofc, happened before that I got only 2 shards.

Didn't read the with heroes part. Yeah, the heroes take your drops, which is what happened.

bunnies and eggs are additional drops attached to the foe. So a foe will still drop what he normally would and in addition to that may drop and egg or bunny. So this doesn't effect drop rates

I always get 3-5 in a 8 man questing group.

i still solo the beach and cave. i get about 4-5 drops per run and on 2 man heroway fow with my friend we get a total of about 10 drops between us.

each henchman halves your drop rate. Heroes I'm guessing do the same. if you open the quest reward chests with heroes present most of the time you won't get anything. If you flag them away and then open it you should get something.

Pretty sure henchies/heroes take as much drops as a regular person, which would be 1/8th. Half would be quite ridiculous.

0 <> 6 shards for someone is normal in a fow run

You only have bad luck in this run... i forget how many times i get 5 6 7 shards and the others in the team get 1 2 0... and how many times i get 0 and the others 2 3 4 5 shards...

Did one last week, 2 ppl + 6 heroes nm

16 shards drop

either you chose your words poorly, or you are spreading incorrect info

each hench/hero decreases the drop rate only as much as 1 person does, so a combination of 4 heroes & hench would decrease the drop rate by half if the other 4 were ppl

Seriously - the times me and my guildies did FoW and UW questing or just farming - it pretty much always ended up with the guildies giving me a share of their gems so I wouldn't sit in a corner and cry ....

I did an FoW clear last night, and three of us received a grand total of 2 shard drops. The remaining five got probably 14-15 shard drops.

Sounds like the roll of the dice went in favor of your heroes, and not the real players this go round.

I've always wished that I could see the drops that were assigned to my H/H. I wonder how many 100k+ecto drops Devona has grabbed and quietly kept for herself across my many hours of playing.
