What's the use of dedicating miniatures?

HaLLo everyone,

I'd like to discuss about the use of dedicating Minipets. Many people do believe that you will get the pets in GW2 that you've dedicated in your HoM. But According to Gaile Gray it does not matter which pets are dedicated in the Hall as long as the Monument is completed:

So that'd mean that there will be kinda treat for having 20 Pets dedicated, but you will not get your 'old' Pets for GW2. So why are dedicated Pets so much cheaper than undedicated ones? I can understand that a ded. Grey Giant is only 4k while an unded. is 10k, but why is an unded. Oni e.g. more than 100ectos more than a ded. one?

Even before Gaile made that statement it would've been quite naive to think that you'd get your dedicated miniatures in GW2 - why should A.Net allow us to bring Millions of Pets in a new game? In the beginning there'd be more miniatures than gold - what would happen to economy?

So what's your opinion on the topic? Is the price difference between dedicated and undedicated Pets overrated? And is HoM at all overrated?

Greetings,

Todie

IMO, I don't really care about my Hall of Monuments. It's more personal preference, like 15k armor vs 1k armor. Some of the prices on dedicated vs undedicated is ridiculous though.

nope

according to the head honchos in the video each and every pet/mini/weapon/etc you put in the monument will UNLOCK some neat but cosmetic non advantage item/mini/etc which will only be available by HOM unlock.

having to fill a full monument would shut out most players.

one pet one GW2 surprise unlock.

Well, for one thing, looks; it's nicer to have a Kuunie in your hall than all of the birthday whites and purples. But they seriously better rethink that policy; everyone who has anything in their hall should get something in GW2, and it should be related to whatever they put in. One destroyer weapon should get rewarded, just like one treasured mini should get rewarded, and rewarded in kind.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Notice that she didnt say what you would get for a completed HoM...

In any case, I doubt we would be able to bring them over in GW2, because as you said, it would ruin the economy.

But that would mean that quantity matters, and not quality. The morale of this story, buy the cheapest white minis you see and fill your monument with them. Doesnt matter if they're Green or worth 100k + ectos in the end.

Just to echo Loviatar, ANet has said that the stuff in the Hall of Monuments will give you *something*, but the details beyond that have been non-existent. I think prices of minipets will either go way up or way down when it's finally announced, depending on how cool it is.

Out of my 19 month gw playtime only one other thing besides this has made me a bit sad.
the dragon festival redux and its assigned drops sucked the fun out of it and made it afk-able

and this where mini collections costing hundreds if not thousands of k are equal to that of somone who's hall is full of 3 and 6 k mini's
btw my most costly mini is a bone dragon incase people think im snoby.

btw the unlucks could be customised/assigned to accouns and non-tradable.

You are taking Gaile out of context. It clearly says "she does not think it matters" which basically means she doesn't know and is merely offering a speculative opinion. Which is probably wrong as the devs keep her in the dark as nearly as much as they do us.

My guess is absolutely nothing. Not a single thing in the storyline mentions a "full HoM" and when you do get one there are no bells and whistles, no dialog box thats says your HoM is complete, or any sense of accomplishment or completion at all. Its a urban legend imo.

GW2 is a new game, the rewards will not be any kind of uber, so deal with it now.

You absolutely will not be getting a 1 for 1 on minipets, unless they are customized like weapons and cannot be used by others or traded in anyway.

Expecting anything to relate to what you materially put in to the HoM is basically saying "I want to show my GW1 e-peen in GW2, and I want it to be bigger". Well, get surgery, because it's not happening through the HoM.

Anyway, even if Gaile knows, it doesnt mean it wont change, even when GW2 will be out

I dont care either way. I'm just gonna keep on getting cheap white/purple minis and filling out the hall that way. i dont see the point of spending 100k+e when i dont actually use them anyway.

well, the reaosn is very veyr very very simple. UNDEDICATED pets can go to YOUR HoM whereas DEDICATED mini pets can not.

here's an example:
you go car shopping and see a car you like. you see one new (undedicated) one and one used (dedicated) one. obviously, you'd pay 15,000 for the new car due to it being NEW (undedicated) compared to the used (dedicated) car that is priced @ 8,000 for the one previously owned (dedicated).

does that make sense to you?

You can't compare cars with minipets

If you buy an old car you can actually see that it had been used and an used cars quality is definetly worse than a new ones. But theres really no actual difference between an unded. and a ded. miniature. Both can run around etc..

imho dedicating minis was always a terrible waste, especially high-end ones. But I never cared about any HoM, simply because it's such an epic fail. GW2 rewards? High pvp titles will probably get me nothing and for pve I don't have one character to stick to.

Can you give us a quote of where you found this please?

Edit: Also, does this apply to the other 4 monuments? like for titles, do you just need 5 titles to be considered "maxed"?

I'm glad this was brought up. While we don't have the answer, I hope we get some info sooner than later, because I'm not dedicating any pets until I know how this mechanic works. HOM needs a lot of work and clarification before it becomes anything close to worthy the hype anet gave it.

I think you missed the real point. Gaile, speculated that it does not matter which minipets you have in your HoM, so long as it is completed, everyone receives the same reward. So, why should the price difference be so big on an undedicated oni compared to a dedicated one compared to a gray giant, when they both offer the same reward?
