how to answer this question, without knowing where it needs to be played?
RA? TA? tombs? GvG? PvE? What is the rest of the team carying?
Be detailed, and people can give a good answer. Not that the elites mentioned in this thread are crap, but they have different situations. Some answer for TA/RA, some answer for tombs it seems.

Well I was thinking for random arena. I was using Shield of Deflection and it worked very nicely againist all the warriors and rangers. Sorry if my question was to vague. I was wondering about actual Protection Elites for a regualr Prot monk build. I was running the one with Shield of Deflection in comp arena and it worked nicely... though conditions were a problem on occasion. I might run it with Restore Condition for comparison.

For tombs: Shield of Deflection
It works very nicely vs Iway, Ranger spike and other physical assaults. 77% block + 25 armour is huge and can be cast more than any enchant removal or rigor can. Also against a solid ranger interrupt team it can be very difficult to cap and altar without this + spell breaker unless you take down the rangers or stop their condition removal and blind them. Also, in tombs, draw condition is perfectly adequet for condition removal unless you face one of the rare mass conditions builds (ie. ViM but we all know ViM teams are rather easily beaten with a bit of brain power)
For GvG: Offering of Blood
2 monk back line = no true prot monk
If you do run a thrid monk as an actual prot i'd probly take martyr for it's range so you can cover runner of conditions too.
For 4v4: Irrelevent to me... (I don't like 4v4 at all)

Personally I LOVE the prot elite "Amnity" it can shut down the overly used warriors and rangers IF you make your team aware of the usage of this skill. Being a monk the warriors will run up to you and you just cast amnity to shut their lips up for a good while. Its an extremely good energy management skill as well since you shouldnt have to heal as much.
If the warriors are grouping up I run to them and cast amnity.
Like I said this skill is only effective if you are in a team that knows not to do AOE on the warriors if they have been the victim of amnity. It also will only work on warriors and rangers so thats a bummer too, but I find that there are plenty of warriors running around to make this skill useful.

for 4v4 i find it best to use your elite in energy storage since other methods that can be used in tombs like channeling are alot less effective. This leads to either OoB, mantra of recall, or energy drain. Offering of Blood is the most reliable solid one while mantra of recall opens up opportunities for a better overall boon-prot monk with access to other useful mesmer skills and energy drain can contribute to energy denial.

I'm suprised no one mentioned Mark of Protection! ~*~*Mark of Protection -Elite Enchantment. For 10 seconds, whenever target ally would take damage, that ally is healed for that amount instead, maximum (Min: 6 - Max: 60). All your Protection Prayers are disabled for 10 seconds.*~*~
I know a lot of PvP builds that revolve around this and I know I wouldn't have my wolf emote without it

not too many use this one because it's recharge time is very unrealistic for pvp. The fact thats it disables all of your prot skills also adds to the disadvantage. I can understand that, if someone were skilled, and used it carefully and wisely, it could be a good skill. But I wouldn't reccomend it to someone just starting out using prot monk.
