In case you're unaware of the phrase "jumping the shark", then let me explain what it means.

Jumping The Shark: It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite show or program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on... it's all downhill. Some call it the climax, but it's been coined the phrase "jumping the shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.

Jumping the shark applies not only to TV, but also music, film, even everyday life.

So I ask you all: Has Guild Wars jumped the shark?

Err yes... and so have you. Please, no more pointless threads... But yes GW passed it probably after Factions was released. After that it was never the same.

I think it happened after Nightfall when they announced that Utopia was canceled and they were working on GW2. After that point it seemed like GW:EN was made as a short way to tie up the GW1 epic so they could get on to what they really wanted to work on.

Yes, nearly every aspect of Guild Wars is going down hill, losing it's touch, GW just isn't what it used to be. It's becoming very much so like other worn out RPG's, even though i hate this and it makes me kinda sad, it is happening. I won't go into details on everything why cause i'd get out of hand and type way too much, but i hope this doesn't happen for GW2. The damage has been done and it all could have been prevented, let's hope ANet reckognizes this and does something about it for GW2.

I still love Guild Wars though, don't get me wrong.

We don't use "jumping the shark" to describe it for Guild Wars.

We use "Going North". Or, to be more specific, "Meeting the Asura".

NF jumped the shark with it's entire plot. GWEN tried to make you forget that you tangled with gods such that a charr warband would be a problem and polo joker is still running around. I mean really, both the charr and PJ should have been beaten by the heroes of gwen yet they were allowed to linger as plot devices for the next game.

< Concurs. Things fully went 180 with GW:EN.

Repost of a repost of a repost.

Imo the game lost it's touch shortly before factions was released, but I still enjoy it today, so no problem for me, if it ''jumped the shark'' or not.

If I had to pick a moment, it would be when they added the salvage bonus to the wisdom/treasure titles. At the time I said "that's pretty crappy... oh well, no biggie", however in hindsight its pretty easy to see that this was the first misstep that has spiraled into the title effect bonus/pve skill mess that has turned GW from a great and unique game into the mediocre rubbish that we're playing today.

I really don't know what to say. I'm just trying to ask a simple question everyone is capable of answering with their own personal opinion or idea.

You make many pointless threads.

Stop making them.

That's his point. This question has been asked. You simply ask redudant questions that have been asked 1000 times, and have no meaningful discussion behind them.

the game jumps the shark at different times for different ppl. if you've been playing since or before official release it's likely that it went south a lot sooner.

and all forums have a cycle of posts due to a cycle of users. similar to the cycle of players in GW and their enjoyment of the game

When it became Grind Wars. Farm this, get those Lucky/Treasure titles or you'll have to build your GW:EN reputation points for perfect kits, get a decent LB rank or you won't be able to find a party.

I started playing the summer before NF came out, and while I was dimly aware of titles, I didn't really give anything resembling a shit. Now I'm like "Oh look, double rep weekend!" and it kind of depresses me. I haven't really been doing much rep farming because I can't stand grind, but I keep thinking that I should ignore how much I hate the repetition and go kill those specific monsters all day.

I hate that nagging "missed opportunity" feeling.

I rarely see "meaningful discussion" on a forum.

/sigh

A topic on ANet's response to hackers has thought behind it.

This does not.

We encountered the grind issue once people decided to NOT stop playing once they ran out of things to do.
We are bitching about the insane grind and how it's trashing the game and at the same time we are still playing.
