I've always thought since nightfall was released that the dervish was the ultimate whammo.
Paragons can be godmode but they have a lot of counters, just not many people realise it. Lack of decent skills though.
Rits are pretty much a class of their own, with possibly the most useless primary attrib in the game.
Assassins break pvp, 'nuff said.
Definitely out of those professions to get the chop, the core professions are all balanced around each other.
Which GW1 profession is for the chop for GW2?

Here's my thoughts, for what they are worth, from things I have read from ANET staff interviews and such:
You choose a race to play <fact>. It seems likely that each race will have inherent strength and weakness. Next, <specualtion> you choose a class, either to augment that race's strenth or to eleviate the weakness. As you play you have the option of improving certain aspects (similiar to attributes) of your character. In other words, a totally open-ended progression where the player actually chooses what his/her character will become.
Discuss?

nobody would force you to play an Assassine then with those skills oO... come on, anet already gave the game a hairstyle, that nearly looks like a 1:1 copy and paste from Naruto, only with the exception, that the symbol for the different hometowns isn't shown on the headband

Not to mention the hundrweds over thousands of players, which surely named characters "Naruto" .. its the same, like thousands over thousands of Legolas-Rangers run around in Guild Wars, does it anyone disturb, as if the world would be doomed through this fact ? XD.
I personally would find assassine incredible awesome, wheny they would have in GW2 a gameplay mixture of GW1, Assassins's Creed, Naruto and the upcoming EVAN Online.
This together would make Assassins imo together the perfect mix out of Persian and Asian Culture, with the looks of GW1 and the stylish martial arts Action-Gameplay of EVAN-Online together with the correct cultured Weapon for Assassins -the Katar.
PS: @quickmonty: who flames me first, gets it straight back, so simple. I at least know, where to stop flaming and can discuss things, without startening things with flame postings to provoke others only, because nothing else are those flames - just provocations.

About your theory: I can say only.. its possible, but as you say. racial strengths and weakness - something, that very many of the Anti-GW2 Whiners really don't like to hear *g*, because they think then automatically only about WoW and that GW2 will become just a WoW-Clone due to this, with a bad concept, which will end in plyers playing only Norn-Warriors, only Asura-Elementalists and only Sylvari-Monks ect. pp. XD

I like the 4 professions that were added after proph but I feel that they could be incorporated somehow into the 6 core professions. I think if anything the 6 core should stay and the rest go. If anet did not want to incorporate them into the other professions that also leaves room for additions later on in the future through campaigns and/or expansions.
Personally, I want all 10 classes to remain in some way. I don't know how many people were around to feel the pain of being FORCED to play a warrior if you wanted to get in someone's face to do some hacking.
Sins and dervs were given as an alternative to the "wammo" stereotype, and I for one would be disappointed if our options on building our own unique character were in any way hampered.

There will likely be more classes than we can currently speculate. And it may be that a single character can play any of them, changing primaries as easily as we can now change our secondaries.
Each profession will have a token amount of leveling to be done (see GW1) to reach full attributes etc. thus the seemingly endless leveling of one primary character, with multiple Primary/secondary professions. New professions released every expansion and on an on.

My favourite bit of not information to come out about Guild Wars 2 recently. Quoted from Izzy's talk page on the official wiki
Enjoy trying to decide what that means. :P

Also, in a strange way, it's hard to play a para (like a mesmer) in PvE becaues it's hard sometimes to decide how to be effective in a party. Often times I found that a paragon has to be suited to the rest of the team build, or to the evironment.
I can't imagine any class getting axed, as they have all brought something unique to this game, both in PvE and PvP. Some professions come with incredibile utility, damage, defense, or soloability. No one class can quite do what another can. |
And judging by the parts that I do understand - can I have some of what you're smoking? Out of medical reasons OF COURSE!
