Should I Make a Monk Just For Farming?

I got into monking just six months ago for supporting guild mates and now it’s all I want to play. However, I now want to get some nice items for my monk and feel the need to farm. I have a few of questions.

1. Can a 600 smiter farm all the places a 55 monk can?
2. Is the 600 smiter cheaper to build?
3. Which version has a steeper learning curve (if any)? 1) Not ALL places, but most, although 55 can solo so more drops.
2) 600 smiter is a far cheaper build. You actually have to downgrade armor (level 15 armor from ascalon is what I use) to trigger spirit bond every time.
3) The 55 build is pretty much cookie cutter to the max so the learning curve is nothing. That being said, its also pretty easy to 600 as well.

Sooo, pick 600. Its cheaper, its pretty easy, and its fun! Or you could pick both and 55 some places, 600 some places like I do.

i dunno about the farming places but i made a 600 in like 1 hour for like 3k it was real cheap just buy noob armor with 15 armor

Monks=PuG heaven. Make a 55 monk, but dont just 55 on it, that would be a waste of a monk! I would agree and it what I advocate about but some just make monk for farming as if you can use a Necro or Elementalist.You can't stop this and if the OP wants that is his prerogative.

I made my monk very recently, used a build to powerlvl HIMSELF from lvl 8-20, then farmed in the CoF HM. I am now richer than I think I ever was. I highly recommend making a monk. gl Was it a 55HP or 600/Smiter ?

Power level HIMSELF ? I can get a NF char to level 10 in prob 2-3 days with heros then go to EotN to get lvl 20 in another day. How long did it take you from creating the Monk to actually "farming" with him?



I know nothing about monking but want the "leet lewt" and I hate being poor.

About the making a 55, if you can be bothered to make one why not. Though almost every profession can solo farm well imo. That didn't really prove anything. Rangers main form of farming was Splinter/barraging (nerfed) and trapping (nerfed), most of their others are just farming that any profession can use

and 55 aren't for people that can't think of better farming builds. there are many versions and skilled things you must overcome, it just that most of that is open knowledge now a days. but monks are used many solo and farming builds so you should make one.


i wonder which is better a +10 health regen 55
or a shield of absorption 55 The problems with SoA (though rather obvious) are:
-recharge time.
-doesn't counter degen dmg type.

I know it has been used as a stop gap spell in the past for 600 farmers. As far as "skilled things" you have to overcome goew when farming I couldn't disagree more. The obstacles once overcome become static. I will however say that whoever invented the first 55 build was quite imaginative.

well i use SoA and i just have blessed aura and %14 enchanting sword, switch gives me .88 seconds with out it Didn't say it couldn't be done. Just gave a break down on the drawbacks, since you "wondered which is better", or was that rhetorical?
