Last year there were Lunar Fortune Traders that were available for a week after the event ended. I was still collecting the tokens but when I went to go and look for the trader they wern't there?

Unless I'm thinking about another event, but I'm certain they were there for a while after that :S

If i recall correctly there was a Lunar Gift giver (5 tokens = 1 Red Gift Bag) hanging around last year. However this year the trader was present in the festival so they didnt add it.

They should bring the collectors back for a few days. People were playing games till the last minutes and when it ended they couldn't exchange their lunar tokens they won.
The end of the event was announced, but collectors aren't really an event, are they?!?

Many people complained about the collectors being gone so fast. I know it was announced and all, but bringing them back for a few days wouldn't harm anybody. Just the collectors, not the rest.

agreed wholeheartedly, events with tradeables should allow a 1-2 day of traders afterwards, especially if you are going to leave the decorations up longer than the event's ending

The games stopped at 12pm PST and the collectors were still there till noon the next day. There was time to trade in your tokens.

I have to disagree with that assertion. I idled on 9-Rings when I went to bed Sunday night and didn't even look at GW until Monday evening. I was still on the boardwalk where I left myself (with 2 more masks and feast rewards). I'd traded in all my tokens before going to bed Sunday, so when I got 30 more opening the bags, figured "well, just go turn them in quick for fortunes and be done". Guess what - no trader. This was roughly 5pm CST on Monday.

So at least from my experience, there was NOT a trader present until noon the day after the event ended - unless I'm mistaken on the understanding the event ended at Noon PST on Monday.

I agree. I was playing the games until the event ended at noon PST Monday. Actually I was in a winstreak and started to get Victory Tokens instead of Lunar Tokens, so I knew the event ended. I can't work on Gamer title whenever I want, unlike other titles. They're confined to these special events. No one should be forced to choose between working on a title and getting the reward for the title - that's not how the other titles work.

It's bad enough that the horrible lag on Saturday wiped out whole sections of Dragon Arena and wasted a lot of people's time. I didn't even get my next rank cause of all the DCs and everyone being kicked from the place.

If you haven't notice, Anet has a step father view of events. Mean enough to take all the presents away but lazy enough to leave all the decorations.

This time at least it was expected - After this Wintersday when exactly the same happened.
I went to Lions Arch to exchange my 4 or 5 full stacks of candy shards and saw all the even NPCs including the Gift Giver gone.
I was like WTF last year gift giver NPC stayed for over a week after! And I didn't even load the update!
Then I remembered that Kamadan was about 10 minutes late with everything during this event, zoned there and the shard collector was still there! He disappeared a couple minutes later after I finished exchanging. GG, no shards cluttering my storage for a year

But it shouldn't be like that, people just play the game, enjoy the event and minigames, then finding themselves unable to exchange the rewards.
I saw A LOT of disappointed players in Shing Jea this year when they came to exchange their Lunar Tokens. I feel it's just wrong and that one collector should stay for at least a couple days longer.

"Noon" isn't a great time limit for people who go to work. If they promise this as a casual game they should stop expecting people to be poopsocking.

if they leave the decorations up they should leave the reward npc there as well, not sure why they take them away as its not a big thing to change the npc removal to coincide with the decoration removal instead of the event end. (and after the amount of anger after the end of the last event I thought they would have learned to just leave them there----guess not)

I remember a post from Gaile saying that everything would vanish at noon on Monday.

If you're worried about the casuals, I'm sure they traded everything in before going to bed on Sunday night. AFKing =/= casual

(I just planned my tickets so I would run out before noon. I wound up with 8 left when I got home from work.)

Tickets arent the issue as they have resale value, we are speaking of the exchange for Lunar Tokens and Victory Tokens. Both of which have no resale and just sit in your inventory until it comes back again

The removal of collector's doesn't require a new build, thus it's easier. They're set to a timer to disappear at 12 noon PST. The decorations is altering scenery, and thus, requires a new build to remove. I'm pretty sure Gaile has said this somewhere in a thread.

Not everyone lives in the appropriate time zone and has other obligations then getting to the collector before the event ends, I myself had to sleep early and left after winning in Dragon Arena. 93 tokens sitting in storage...despite having advanced notice doesn't mean you can still make it unless you concrete-make your schedule. It'd be nice if they brought it back for people to trade in their tokens...

Hello,

Ya know? No matter how much time we allow -- a half-day, a couple of days, a week -- we are asked to bring back the collectors after every festival. But hey, I understand -- I was in the event until the end, and I did end up with some unexchanged tokens myself.

As to the request: We cannot bring back the traders or collectors for this last event. It's simply not possible for us to roll them back out, as they are intertwined with event elements that we do not wish to restore. There are programming details involved in the events, as you can imagine. The decorations are one element. The mini-games (like Dragon Arena) and the collectors form another. It's not possible to disconnect the currently-connected elements, with regret.

I have passed along comments from players about how it would be nice to extend the time of the collectors, and the design team has responded that they will look into seeing if it is possible in the future. But whether that is possible or not, we'll do our best to communicate timelines for you -- as we did prior to this event -- so that you have the information that you need to make your exchanges. And do remember: The lunar tokens will be not expire. So if you want to do so, you're ok to hold onto them and exchange them next year.

funny has they were around a lot longer last year----after the events ended, which is why people are whining about it this year---Anet changed it so that they disappeared at a certain time---which was different when the event was last ran (run?).....why the change??? is what is being asked.
