new type of spamming?

So..has anyone else encountered problems with spamming and not in a normal sense I mean like .. as soon as I map into a place someone will send me a whisper saying something about going to a website or buying GW gold online...which isnt that illegal in itself??

I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this annoying type of spam and if there is something else I can do besides blocking them because it's multiple people. And I can't even report them because they dont appear to be in the district when I try to find them.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Yes most people get it, I dunno if it works but you probably should just stay away from the busy dists, instead of going in 1 go on to the higher numbers if possible.

Let me guess, you were in Great Temple of Balthazar? That's where I get my PM's from the gold sellers. Luckily the guy that was spamming to me was in the same district, needless to say I reported him.

Try to stay away from the Balthazar place. It's heaven for the spammers there.

actually no. First time it happened to me I was in Lion's Arch. It's happened a few more times since then and I don't really remember where...Balth might have been one of them. But I was just in Shing Jea Monestary [sp?] when it happened today and finally I was like "ugh! I can't take it anymore!!" lol

btw, this is not just ToB, it also happened to me in Kamadan and Shing Jea today, on quite a few occasions.

Happens everywhere. Changing districts in Shing Jea and there is a new whisper, I go to Kaineng and I get whispered, I travel to Lion's Arch and guess what..... I get whispered. ANET really should do something quickly, this gets really really really annoying.

if they are not in the district anymore, make sure no name is highlighted, and type /report name (name being his name) it will report them that way.

According to rumors, they try to steal either you game account or your bank account.I also heard the sites were filled with viruses(Haven't checked yet)
All I know is that they should be traced and brought to court.

Besides.They shouldn't advirtize[sp?] content for guild wars without Anet's permission because that is copyrightment.Spamming is also considered cyber-harassment in a way, since they don't accept the answer no.And if they need a bot to advirtise in the first place, they shouldn't advirtise period.And as I mentioned before, it is harassment because nobody wants it and they continue to spam.

Overall, they should be locked up because they know they are guilty and do it purposely just to cause trouble..And once you get the facts, its a shame that Anet isn't taking any actions.

Was sitting in Kam Am Dist 1 yesterday and got hit up by them about 5 times in a 10 min span...>_>

Next time, please try reading the thread listings and/or use the search feature and contribute to an already existing thread rather than making another one.
