good pve mage

I have recently re-rolled to a mage... err elementalist, and have some questions about choosing a secondary.
1. Which secondary would provide the most longevity?
2. Which secondary would provide the most damage out-put?
3. Which secondary would give me the option of farming when i hit 20?


Thank you,

1. Monk for self heals
2. Mesmer for Echo, Arcane Echo
3. Assassin, or Mesmer, or Monk, depending on what you're farming.

I'm sure there are many more answers to those questions, those are just off the top of my head.

You shouldn't care about your secondary in the beggining of the game anyway. It is switchable in a fairly short time.
Take a class that has a hard rez and use your primary skills. Then, when you have access to secondary changes and elites, start to create/find real builds, and choose your classes based on it.

If you're a prophs char, go Mes.....it's the fastest, and you'll probably love it anyway. Whether you're a fire ele nuker using echo, or an earth ele solo farming using mantra of earth......mesmer is pretty much the way to go.
