- The implementation of the pig-sink is completely WTF-worthy. Sure, they're non-rare golds, but was that really a BAD thing? I liked the fact that there are a few minis that anyone can afford. Sure, the pigs are kind of ugly, but so is Dunkoro. Is he next to go? XD I have my first pig and gave away the others I recieved, and this is the thanks I get? Oh well... I guess I'll just buy one when the craze dies down, because I'm not spending 70k on it.

- Drop rate for rats is unbelievable at times. XD I was lucky, but my best friend used up all the tokens earned on 9 or so characters and got a whole bunch of fireworks. :-\ I used up a few stacks as well for her and didn't fare any better.

- I guess the dev team's so busy working on GW2 that they can't take the time to at least slightly modify last year's mask; that's not really very encouraging. Way to tell us how much pride you take in events now that you're mostly done releasing new content for this version of GW. You've also given an excellent argument for people who've been petitioning for retroactively distributed masks with this one.

- I wish they'd implemented this party animal title track sooner. No real complaints here, though, It's a cute track and easy to max.

- I didn't gather any horribly difficult ingredients, just some griffin wings and crap. I feel bad for the people who farmed endgame missions and stuff. All that for five crates of fireworks? Seriously? o_o

- The quests were pretty fun. The Nian were awesome -- why can't we have minis of them if you insist on putting more in game? -- and I'd love to see the price of red dye and glittering dust now. XD

I enjoy events, and I've definitely gotten my share of gift items, but as other people said, this one centered too much around goldsinks and minis. High on prizes, but kinda low on fun.

Edit:

Simply put, this event sucked. got screwed on the mini pets, got screwed out of a new hat, got screwed on the rollerbeetle racing. But atleast the greedy traders are happy. I lost 3 players because of this event.

They had finally had enough after all the horrible changes this event pushed them over the line. and there is talk of the entire guild quitting and even more people than that. Its not JUST about the mini pets or the hat. Its about the record GW has for making horrible changes and disappointing the players.
they simply do not want to deal with it anymore.

so good job Anet. You lost 3 + possibly 60 other players simply because your to lazy to maintain gw's funfactor. You can't make everyone happy all the time, but you certainly have a knack for pissing people off all the time.
My guild leader (the best friend I mentioned before) is another. It's not the rat thing even, it's that for her this event has been the end of one long string of recycled content and no fun whatsoever, and she's apparently thinking of turning the guild and all her possessions over to me. ;_;

Urgh, what a terrible event. This was one of my favorites last year, and look what they've done to it now. Couldn't even create a new hat. I miss the Dragon Festival 2007 that was apparently so terrible. At least for that they made a new hat and a few new things for the script. Nothing needed to be changed script-wise for this event, but...the Crate of Fireworks is a sucky way to remember the event (and probably not even going to be exclusive to it, the way this is going). The minipets were implemented horribly as well. I almost liked Wintersday 2007 more than this.

There are all these people saying stop complaining, it's free. Does ANet expect us to buy a new game of theirs if they can't even keep their old one properly maintained?

Addendum: See what HuntMaster Avatar said. I couldn't have put it better myself.

As for the Fireworks being "Guild Hall only": THANK GOD! Can you imagine the lag-fests that the main cities would become if people were allowed to set them off there? Especially if even only 5 or so people set them off at the same time! (and then there'd be a QQ thread about that!)

As for the "No mini-rat at end of event:" That means no QQing about how worthless they are and how much inventory space their taking up, how much I got screwed out X amount of gold, and on and on after the event is over! Gotta love the fact that they didn't make the same mistake this year!

With the amount of complaining that's going on, Anet may as well just screw up the game completely to make everyone explode. I'd laugh my heart out if they decided to do...I dunno.

Give warriors 8 pips of energy regen, and 1,337 energy, monks now die if they use a spell on themselves, elementalists always move with a 90% slow down, paragon's spears have infinite range, dervishes can only attack themselves, mesmers spell costs are quadripled, assassins now shadowstep randomly...infinitely (you can't stop it, you just keep poofing), necromancers now have angel wings and normal happy chubby cheeked faces, ranger's models become trees, ritualists are always blinded and dazed.

Yeah...complain about something like that. This event wasn't outrageous. It was fun. I had fun. QUIT YOUR BITCHING!

If you feel you can not leave constructive feedback without resorting to insults then please, don't post. It will be deleted. If you are unhappy with the event I understand but resorting to name-calling or other such tactics are just going to let your post be deleted. There are many who were unhappy with this event who have been able to express that without flaming. Stay on topic and contributing.

I had a great time this Canthan new year, I got Lucky 4 and my 1st Lion mask. I dont know what everyone is QQing about. What would you expect to see at Canthan new year, lots of fireworks and people with decorative masks.
I sold all my alcohol really cheap, and used the AFK 9 rings game as a time to sell everything in my storage that i didnt want, and others did.
Made alot of new friends, and seeing thousands of snowman summoners and ghost in the boxes go off was a complete riot.

If Anet gave out 100k plat in the red bags, someone would still come here and QQ about it.

Thank you for the chance to get the mask again, not everyone was here last year, try thinking about other players for once.
gg

PS - I have enough Fireworks now to light up Times Square on the 4th of July

I like the spirit of DVDF and other guilds that organized the preparing of the meals...
That's the best thing about the event imo...
Only getting a rat after about 640 fortunes was kinda disappointing...
The 5 pigs needed for the celestial pig too (especially since i to gave away several to guild mates and friends last year who couldn't go to the festival)
The crates of fireworks... well it's cute (moderately happy with it)
Using the mask again... bit apathetic about that... new mask might have been a bit more interesting though...

What I'll remember most about it is the greed of some, and the great community spirit of others (again... tx DVDF & other contributors)

I think the feast is overly complicated, too many items to get for the chefs, as a result too many districts fail. Compared to the Wintersday final event or Halloween it's fiddly for the average player.

Umm, its the same list from last years event, it isnt like you didnt have 12 months to farm some of the items.
Anyway, thank you all that spent the time to ensure others had fun with this event.

I'd contend that though the negatives in this thread constitutes feedback, it doesn't constitute balanced feedback.

The people who actually enjoy the festival, are doing just that - busy enjoying it in game. Very few of them have the time or mental energy to come here and argue the point (the only reason I am is because I'm at work), because arguing the point is ultimately pointless when no one is willing to even understand the other side of the issue.

Politics, religion, pro-wrestling, games - it's all the same. Those who find solace in negativity clump together. Those who are positive are out there enjoying the world.

Negativity breeds negativity. Argumentum Ad Populum.

As with all other GW festivals, I have enjoyed myself.

All I can say now it's that in the last... well... in ALL the events until now I've been at least in 3 stances of the finale event. In all of those I got some nice rewards and got fun.

In this one, I was once in one of them, and after seen how it was, I eft the game for the rest of the weekend. I'll probably come back the next update or so... I just got... a bit of... well... I made Ring of Fire 30 times to try and get 4 ingredients and could get only one... and then I could not fin a district which had all the ingredients...

I felt impotent. Bleh.

I was interested enough to leave my main character afk on the 9-ring the entire weekend. I should have enough time to get my lucky title up one more level this event. so I'm happy about that.

however, the whole 5 pigs for a celestial pig is a huge slap in the face. I do understand the reasoning behind it. to remove some of them for the market, and give people something cool/new from old useless minipets. however, pretty much all it managed to do is make the rich/horders richer while the average players had already given their extras away or trashed them for space.

I'll probably get on if I remember for the closing event, but if I miss it, meh, honestly could care less...

my honest impression with the event is Anet is trying to ease into our mindset the "we're still going to keep the GW1 servers up, but we don't care enough to actually bothering updating anything anymore."

Aside from the same mask I liked it, made a couple hundred K off of lunar tokens + I got to hang out with my friends. Overall it was good.

Yes i'd say overall it was a big dissappointment.

1. Only getting rats from lunar fortunes was an awful idea. If you only have 1-2 chars how are you suppose to get a rat with a chance of like .33%-.50% ?

2. The 5 pigs was the worst idea I have EVER seen. That was the biggest load of shit ever. You want us to what buy pigs now at horribly inflated prices? no RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing way. Why not make it 1 pig to the people who actually kept them. I don't know about you but we have very limited storage space with multiple characters.

3. No new mask. Are you really that busy on gw2 that you can't take the time to make a half way decent mask? Or maybe it was a good thing seeing how the wintersday masks turned out...

Dont know about anet but I dont find farming for hours just to get a damn mini pet worth it. Luckily my friend got multiple rats. lol

TBH, the two things about this event which disappointed me are Anet's total epic failure in regards to the minipets and the new "title". I was AFK on 9 rings, so I don't care about rollerbeetle lag, though I sympathize. I don't care about the mask being the same, or the quests being identical. I would have liked lunar fortunes to drop more items though.

Anyone taking odds on when the Lair of Snowmen dungeon gets nerfed to not drop snowman summoners anymore?

Oh, and the mystic regen nerf is just lame. Seriously.

Ah heck. Loved it. Simple to get Lunar Tokens, offered the usual variety of activities. No surprises. In fact, I even like that the Celestial Rat only comes out of fortunes.
Fireworks: a nice gift. Beats a new hat that I hardly wear, anyday, anytime.
