Not ironic, just over-the-top tautology: I love the undead staffs from the BMP, so I got one for my necro, modded it up for MM and ended up with-

the Hale Undead Death Staff of Death Magic.

The very basic definition of irony has been "an unfunny coincidence," like having your dad be a firefighter and your house burns down. Nowadays it's generally more or less accepted as "funny", but it could get you marked down in Eng 226.
