How can I get the BMP without a credit card?

I can’t even get a friend to get it for me because my friend will not (and rightly so!) give out her credit card number to anyone and I will not give out my password for my GW account to her so that she can log in and sign up for me. She lives in a different country so she can’t come over to help me with this. I also have a lot of accounts and would like to get more than one BMP (one for each account that is).

I hope the BMP is around for something like 8 months or so because that is how long it may take me to borrow a card number to get the BMP.

By the way, I am a Canadian living abroad. If I was back in Canada, I could get a credit card without issue, but I have been away too long and can’t get one there, nor as a foreigner where I am. Having no credit card is not an issue at all except for when it comes to GW.

The primary reason I began to play this game instead of other online games is that I don’t have a credit card so I cannot pay to play (but I love this game just the same and am glad I play this one rather than others). However, this 'online store only' thing is really annoying. Will there ever be a way to get the BMP otherwise?

Can you get a pre paid debit/cc anywhere there? I know here (US) they are available everywhere, and friends abroad in many countries get them where they are as well. Anet did say initially it would be in stores as well but I haven't seen anything as yet.

Text (SMS) payment is coming soon, although a mate said it's only for people in UK and Germany.

Most countries have at least one company with pre-Paid credit cards.

In Spain it is "La Caixa", and they call it "Cibertarjeta".

No, I have tried. I even had my boss vouch for me but they will not issue any sort of credit card to a foreigner no matter what (this is Taiwan, by the way).

Several other friends here have tried as well and had similar results. For example, I just began to DM a game of D&D here and another married couple just joined the group and they also don’t have a credit card.

They are having difficulty continuing with WoW because they have not returned to Canada to pick up the prepaid WoW game cards. So, I told them about Guild Wars not needing a credit card to play, so now they have ordered the GWs game and the wife is calling the store every day to see if it is in yet. She can’t wait to play with me and my friends who are in Japan.

Actually, there are a lot of Canadians here without credit cards. It is a cash culture so there is no need for one at all unless you are an online gamer it seems.

There are pre-paid card that can be given as presents. (They have fancy designs)

La Caixa had those too, they cost 3€, though, unlike the Cibertarjetas, that are completely free.

OP I feel your pain (I did a 2 year teaching stint in japan and had the same problems).....is there anyway some one at home could get you a pre-paid card and MAIL it to you (nicely hidden in say a care package)....that way your friend wouldnt need to give out her cc info and you would get a pre-paid card (that may or maynot work.....would need to figure out which ones ARE working on the online store first).

No BMP for you... If tyou don't have a CC of some type you are SOL!

You can use a bank transfer I suppose, that's how I got it (at DLgamer), but since you're not in an European country, it will probably cost you extra and it might take days for the amount to be transferred...

i have the same problem not being required to use a cc was one of the reasons i got into gw.
i hope i will be able to get the bmp some how!!!

My closest friend lives out on a farm two miles away from the nearest city. But he would be most willing because I introduced him to GW by buying it for him for Xmas. He is a casual player as he is really busy, but maybe he can get into town at some point.

I also could ask my folks, but they are touring around India at the moment so it would have to wait until they got back.

Either way, I have to wait. I hope the BMP the offer doesn't run out anytime soon.

Either one of you can use the paypal plugin for firefox/ie to generate a one-time-use virtual credit card and then pay with that - that's what I do if my bank is lame and doesn't get a new card to me when the old one expires.

Paypal needs at least one funding source, it can be a credit card, bank account, etc.

I think they require a "backup funding source" for some things but I've always just given them the debit card that's tied to the same bank account they already have :-p
