I looked through the Suggestions thread (a bit! ) and couldn't find anything on this though I'm sure it's been suggested before. Anyway, I'd like to suggest adding an option to turn off the "Announcements" (PvP victories, So-and-So earns a skill point, etc.) from the chat channel.

I find these announcements very annoying (game-generated spam, basically), and it's not like I give a flying rip about who just won a skill point.

My apologies if this idea has been suggested elsewhere, but this seems like it would be such a simple feature to add...

I'd be nice if it could be turned off, especially since it's the same channel that gives us the GW Mommy 'you have been playing for xx hours..'

I'm 41, I'll go to bed when I want to!

And maybe I'm in the minority, but I also really don't care who wins in HoH so those announcements would be toggled off in my interface too.

/signed, especially in light of this double SS/LB weekend. I'd love to be able to stop seeing who just maxed the titles. I don't care who won HoH or just earned a skill point. If I needed to see if the world has favor, I'd do /favor.

Those messages also alert when event s will start and about updates, and about things dropped by monsters.

They are good, and not a bother at all.

LOL. No, you won't. You've been playing for 3 hours. Take a break!

I actually don't mind the "Mommy notices" so much.

"Chester, you get off that danged computer now, DO YOU HEAR ME?!!" It makes me feel kind of ... loved.

It's the skill point thing and the PvP crud that irks me.

It brings back too many bad memories from WoW of those aggravating "ding announcements" in general and guild chat: "Ding! I just hit level 23!" Only this annoying and pointless "Ding" stuff is coming from the game itself.

A simple toggle to turn it off would not be Rocket Science difficult. Come on, ArenaNet...

It should be able to be toggled, I don't see why they want to make everyone deal with it.

I do care about who wins HoH sometimes, because every once in a while I see a familiar name and I like to obs them. Although, all the "So-and-so has just reached Uber-Lightbringer!" I just generally ignore and it just clogs up the chat logs.

I think you should be able to turn off the whisper things too but I won't get into that. But it does get annoying when you're standing in a town (even if you can move) that keeps spamming titles when you don't care who got what, or who won a battle in the Hall of Heroes.

At least the HoH, skill point and title announcements would be nice if they could be turned off. Yay someone just got their 200th skill point, woohoo, big deal <_<

Turning off those darned "you have been playing for x hours please take a break" messages would be nice as well, but I doubt it'll happen. Just wish the darn thing would register my keystrokes and notice when I actually DO take a break, instead of nagging me after I just came back from lunch or dinner. "I just HAD a break you crappy piece of failing software" =_=

For medico-legal reasons, they will never give the option for turning the "you have been playing for xyz hours..." messages off. As for the other green texts, it would be nice if they could be edited.....as I mainly PvE I don't see the point in receiving HoH messages, but I don't mind receiving the gods favour messages, or the messages saying when events start.

But do the messages really impact on gameplay that much?

Hm.... yeah... it would be nice to have a 'Filters' button. That filters button would replace the current chackboxes. The filters would be:
- Local channel.
- Guild channel.
- Party channel.
- Trade channel (excepting buy and sell messages)
- Buy messages.
- Sell messages.
- Alliance.
- Friends.
- Emotes.
- Achievement messages (HoH, titles, level up, skill points, etc).
- Acquisition messages (Quest rewards, points, experience, etc).
- Item drops.
- Item pickups.

White messages (Event starting, hours played, etc) and GM lines won't be in the list, they would be always shown.

It would be also GREAT to link the current filter set with the tag.

Hit Local, and you get the filter you set last time for local.
Hit Party, and you see the filter for party.

Totaly agreed, posting your DING in AO OOC chat and you are not 220 is asking for people to /ignore you.
Ever since Shadow Levels where made easier, the 220 ding mesages the game itself makes are starting to get annoying as well.

Turning ding & title gains off is a must.

I've never left the PC on long enough for the GW mommy to auto log me off, but I guess it's ability to do so would make it a necessary evil to get the messages, as not the think you suffered somekind of crash.

Also I'd like to split my chat bar, different windows for different channels. almost any MMO I know can do so, but not GW.

/signed. You can turn everything else off, so I'd like it if you could that too. The only thing I'd want to keep there permanently are the announcements telling me a new build is available.
