Guild Wars Xport - Display your info in Xfire

Hey all,

I've been working on this project for almost a month now and it is almost ready for testing.

This is best described with pictures so here they are:





First image just shows where it will show in Xfire to your friends, and the last 3 are just more examples of how it looks.

All the skills have the titles displayed when you hover them, and you can click on them to be taken to a wiki page.

I still may be missing some locations and skills, or the titles may be wrong, so once beta testing begins, I would appreciate help in tracking these errors down.

The project is split into 2 parts:

1) The infoview - This parses the data from Xfire and displays it as a nice and neat view like you see above. This will be officially supported by Xfire, so you do not need to worry about having the program to see the data.

2) The program - This is what retrieves the info from Guild Wars and sends it through Xfire to your friends. You need this to show the data to your friends.

I still would like to hear suggestions for things you'd like to see (please nothing overly complicated, such as armor sets, unless you feel like taking pictures of every single one and combination).

I am also planning on having the information also be written to a signature image so you can have a dynamic signature. I haven't gotten around to starting this part yet, but it is in the plans.

I can't really give an ETA on how long till this is released, but I am working on it almost every day fixing things up.

btw, will the info change in real-time? like if you get xp, will it go up in front of your eyes?

Xfire has a queue (probably should have mentioned this in the first post). I think it is about 1 minute. I submit the data to Xfire every time you change zones or districts, because it is a nice event to do it on, so that it isn't updating too often and is still past the queue time. However, I could possibly make it so it sends the data more often, but Xfire won't display it until the timer is up.

So the answer is no, but I could plan on making it update more often.

I think the build thing and location is the most appealing. Looks great. Can't wait to test it out.

We're working on adding whatever stats we can. As for the stats that will be displayed in the final version, i doubt faction will be on by default (perhaps a collapsible section). We still need lots of help figuring out title names and such, and other stats are already found but not yet implemented.

We'll do most of that when the beta comes. I have a rough idea of players that we need info from the most:
Players on Asian Regions
Players with lots of titles (level doesn't matter, as long as you can "wear" it)
Players with rare titles

Of course, regular beta testers are also needed

P.S. Guild and or Alliance names or links to the forums (customizeable by the user) would be great if those are possible.

When you think of it this way, even Vent is a third-party program. XFire is one of those that are known and used.

Yes but Vent doesnt read data being sent to & from a GW server.

Anet doesn't care if something breaks the "ALMIGHTY EULA" (which you all seem to make out to be the new Holy Bible or something) if it would benefit the community, and gives no in-game advantage.

Does this benefit the community? Yeah
Any in-game advantage? Uh....no.

I think another project that was similiar to this got shut down cause it read info to & from the GW servers.

Anyways its better to be safe than sorry.
