Why are they Punishing Hardcore Players

It all started with Rune Traders.

For those of you who remember the days, when gathering the right runes was hard AS HELL. You will know what I am talking about.

Than they introduced a series of vendors, and traders. that made it all pointless, HOURS OF FARMING Pointless in a mater of months.

Nightfalls brought Inscriptions. OH THX, cool so the 10 req 9 15 ^50 Fell Blades I farmed jsut droped to 25% of their current market value Over Night. WOW, so there goes 5 months of Farming in my off time. To gather swords, That I would have eventually Sold. Because you wanted to do what? Make it incredibly easy to get the best weapons/skins in the game? I mean WTF is the point anymore.

And now TOMES? are you Fing kidding me.

so NO LIE. I tested it last week.

18 hours of game play. TOTAL = max lvl, Most elite armor in game, best runes, best incription, fell blade max stats max inscription. Best Farming Builds available through Tome usage. Total cost 150k.

so for 150k and 18 hours I have just BEATEN GW for life. There is really nothing else to want. Yeah I diddnt max out titles, or beat all 3 campaigns FINE. But is this a Single player game, where beating a story line is the point?

No its an MMORPG where getting some piece of armor or a weapon or skill that some one else doesnt have is SUPPOSED to be the point.

I look around any town and see nothing but l337 characters fully tweaked out. I cant remember the last time I saw more than 2 characters not wearing 1.5k or higher armor in the same place.


So whats next? Are they gonna input a Farm somehwere, where Dire Blackwidows spawn. And you can warp there from ascalon for 10k. And jsut tame one. Yeah that would make sense.

Seriously if they take my black widow away, and make it really easy to get Im gonna fing quit.

-New additions will make any older activity in the game easier unless that activity has been changed, which minimal things in Guild Wars have.
-Any item in the market of a game will decrease in value slowly or quickly if it is bettered by another, loses player intrest, and on top of that, will depriciate as long as that item can continue to be brought into the game, which is just about every item in Guild Wars.


This is the rule of thumb for online games. If you can't deal with it, don't play them.

You got ALL ELITE Armor for 150k? hm........ I don't see how you could do that. 75k CRAFTING COST X For 2 Elite Armor = 150k. Am I missing something?

You're going to quit if they make it easier for players to receive a black widow? You are the most Selfish player I have ever met.

IMO Elitism sucks, so the more stuff that is available to the casual gamer the BETTER. Sorry but the entire time I was reading the OP I was thinking "You'll get over it".

This is a game, not a career.

Not everyone has fun spending months killing the same mob looking for a drop then act all Simpson's comic book guy to the noobs he flaunts it to... (actually people who do that make me happy when they make things more widely available.)

They didn't punish hardcore players with the patches. Instead they made it easier for casual players (i.e. the target market) to acquire some of the stuff they want with the stats they want. There will always be non-inscribable stuff if you feel you're too good for inscriptions.

If you want "uber" items, you're in the wrong MMO. I'm sure many Dwarven Axe owners felt a bit screwed over when EotN had a crafter who makes them for under 10k. The world still spins, nonetheless.

It doesn't mean that more work should not entail more reward. Elitism is just a term people slap on people who get luckier or play more than they do and are more successful for it. Why shouldn't they be? They did more work than you. Why do they deserve the same reward if they played 100 hours and you played 10?

Of course, all items depriciate, but not every "Elitist" has trouble accepting this.

Yes, I love getting my babies pretty armor and weapons. I have 16 chars and I admit, I'm a clothesRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO with all of em (except my 'sin, never had fun playing her so she's been relegated to mule status long since lol) I looooove tricking my girls out in new stuff and getting them new toys. I'm very bummed we get no new armor till gw2. Yes, I love finding a new build or finding a sweet elite. That is, however, not the only reason to play. I guess I don't play to feed my ego. I play to enjoy the game.

Everyone with eotn can easily get a black widow through ursan pugs in uw(every decent player can get one aswel ofcourse).

The point of the game is to play it and enjoy it, not to get stressed out because other people have elite armor, or because you are worried that you will lose some kind of individuality you dont really have because other people can get a black widow pet too.

18 hours? From level one to "nothing left to accomplish" 18 hours seems like a stretch, you must be trying to max out your "wild exxageration" title. Myself, I have spent hundreds of hours in the 2 months (if i was at home i would do the /age thing for an exact number) I have been on GW, and am not even close to running out of things to do.

All of the things the OP is whining about are the reasons I play GW in the first place. They're also the reasons that the developers went out of their way to assure everyone that GW was NOT an MMORPG.

EDIT: Just to add.. i have NEVER heard of anyone to do all that you said they could.. Factions alone takes 10-15 hours to do.. =/....

I'm not trying to flame, but the OP is not a hardcore player as he claims to be, and the so-called elitism does not exist at this point.

In order to be hardcore gamer, one of the requirements is predicting what will happen to the game itself. This may include predicting what possible updates to come, which may affect farming, as well as basic economics fundamentals, such as supply and demand. Just because you managed to understand these factors at one point, it does not guarantee you the so-called hardcore gamer title permanently, and so, all these changes affect every players, but the adaptation some players have granted them the title of being hardcore gamers they are today.

It's amusing how every time people try to complain about certain factor of the game, they always try to categorize themselves into a certain group, and thus making themselves a symbol or perhaps an ideal to this group that they believe they are standing up for. Nonetheless, they don't belong in this group, and the problem really lies within themselves.

Guild Wars was never intended as a grindfest MMORPG. There's enough of them on the market.
It was always meant to be casual and easily accessible, with a focus on balance - look at the in-depth PvP aspect, the skill balancings, the skill-based game play, the easily obtainable max gear, elite skins having no advantage over regular stuff, et al.

All your whining about is - lo and behold! - the game becoming more accessible to casual players. lolol

That pretty much sums it up right there. ANet was not looking to market to the Hardcore players as they would get the game no matter what. There is alot more profit in marketing to the casual gamer as there are a ton more casual players then Hardcore gamers. If you don't like the fact that ANet made it more sensible for a casual gamer then don't use the aspects you don't like. No one is forcing you to use the rune trader or inscriptions. Just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it.

Damn, I think he's right. I have been able to accomplish things without frustrating repetitiveness and have fun doing it, therefore it must suck. Damn.
