I've seen alot of people complaining about all the grind that a-net has put in the game. Recently I have been the Sulferous Wastes SS/LB farm to max both titles, it's repetative, mindnumbing and generally boring in itself yes. However during runs I try to get people talking a bit, hang around on vent with guildies etc. Ontop of that through the farm I have gotten to know several people who were going with me, who are now in my friends list, for example: We got talking about titles, and one person on the team needed just Eternal Grove and Raisu Palace HM for Canthan guardian. I offered my help since I had recently completed that title, and enjoyed those missions. After that we have done several Elonan HM missions together and have been having a good time.

So my point is, grind titles like ss/lb are only grind if you make it that imo, I usually enjoy myself while doing the runs, as the runs themselves I put very little thought into and have a good time chatting, talking over vent etc. I'd like to hear some other opinions on this, and how you've managed to take the gind out of the grind titles

it helps to have a television next to the monitor, and farm while you watch your favorite show.

Break it up into 2 or 3 quick run throughs a day and then do something else to offset the repetitiveness.

I always get tired of it eventually, maybe if the Title related skills had some more use I might be more motivated to finish the title.

As for titles that don't have any benefit (except for being a showoff) I would rather level grind for months to become better instead of a few words under my character's name.

I'm currently vanquishing - 2 areas, then I take a break from it or switch characters. Back when I was farming LB and SS (did them separately) I did around 10k/day, while Norn I was up to "a rank a day".

this is distracting when on a monk. I did this last night while vanquishing, and the mob grew (damn minions) and then base camp'd us when we res'd. sad thing it was the last group for that zone and my h/h got 60'd because I was watching a movie.

At first I didn't like grinding, but after playing, I like it alot now. It makes me feel better that I level as I play, it makes the game more enjoyable that the character grows as one plays. If there was no grinding, I doubt most people would continue to play for very long. I know many people that stop playing shortly after reaching max because it gets boring after that, with no real goal anymore, and is why WOW is SO much more popular than GW. Honestly, hate it or love it, grinding is the main reason those games are more popular.

Everyone likes having a growing character that gets more and more powerful the more one plays it etc.

If GW2 is made to be like WOW, it will definitely have great opportunity to even beat it. But if it is capped like the current GW, it'll get boring once people reach caps.

It is what you make of it. Whether it's gold, XP, titles, whatever...there will always be a certain amount of grind. If it gets to you take a break. If you hate grinding... don't grind - but then don't complain about not having anything.

I've got the same perspective of a couple of other people who've replied to this thread. I do a few runs tops a day, then do something else less mind-numbing. Before my mesmer got to the DeathLeveling point, I would do between 2-3 boss runs a day, though I ramped up toward the end.

I do the same in all of my GW play. Do a mission, do some PvP, work on a title, go make dinner.

I just quoted the REAL Mori.

to be honest title hunting isn't my thing , i generally prefer to play various professions , and have fun playing them , instead of grinding , and when i do i do a few vanqs a day or something , then do some ab , which requires considerabely less concentration

It sounds like you make the best of a bad situation, and I applaud you for that, but the question is why does there have to be anything like this in a game in the first place?

No, I disagree. They are grind if they are "repetitive, mindnumbing, and generally boring". See above. The fact that you can do other things while grinding is just an indication of its mindlessness, not that it isn't grind.

If it is something you enjoy, then it isn't grinding at all, it's "fun."

Personally, I don't consider "repetitive, mindnumbing, and generally boring" activities (your own words, mind you) to be all that enjoyable no matter how hard I try to dress it up.

Yes, I grind for rep, too, especially for LB rep because it is useful rep, but I'm afraid the "grind" is still there. Calling it by anything other than its true name, GRIND, would just be self-delusion, in my opinion. It's like calling nasty medicine "candy" to somehow make it taste better.

As I have stated in other threads, I am not wild about rep-related stuff generally, but Factions handled rep SO much better than Nightfall, in my opinion, by allowing you to get the faction you needed by working through a handful of quests rather than just random and tedious killing.

Grind is something I don't do very often. I might cap a few skills everyday, do a few LB runs and then move onto the fun stuff (AB, FoW, UW, CoF)

I watch TV and Guild Chat (the most useful thing about a guild is the GC in an Explorable area) while grinding or actually doing anything when I only have heroes and Henches to talk to.

There's no mandatory grind to speak of in the game. I know that because I've never paid any mind to titles and it's yet to negatively impact my game experience. Don't find it fun to grind? Don't. Personally I think it's the far superior way to play the game, but to each their own.

I break up the monotony by rotating between multiple titles. For example; maybe one evening I'll Vanquish an area, farm Norn rep, and do a HM mission. At the end of the day, I'll take my good loot & put it up for sale and drink away the profits!

I honestly don't mind the grind at all. Its optional. Unlike other Online games, You don't HAVE to grind. I just don't like the PvE skills being linked to the titles. If theres a skill you like, you grind to make it stronger.. so why am I only lvl 20? let me go to lvl 30 and put those extra skill points into PvE only skills. PvE only skill points. hmmm. I like it.

The fact that grind exists doesn't bother me at all. If someone wants to grind to a max pve title in order to make them a better pve'er, there's nothing wrong with that. What did bother me was the sunspear requirement to progress in NF, and the EOTN requirements just to buy armor and weapons. Requiring grind just to play the game or for necessities is needless and stupid.

Work on titles while i'm in the mood (not the real grinding ones), grind if i'm bored (and i'm not trading).

or some reason i've made a grind/farm-playlist =/
