Normally I wouldn't bother writing a post like this, but I thought that you would actually appreciate it so I figured it was worth the time.
Today I decided to reinstall GW and was bracing myself for a long and painful day of patch updates and long downloads. Much to my surprise, I was able to load the game very quickly, and once I got in I was downloading an average of 500kb/sec (my average in other applications is about 50kb). You guys really designed an amazing system for GW, and I've never been able to really appreciate it until now!
Thanks for your hard work!

It could run my PC, I could take out my processor and RAM and it would still run, thats how beasty my video card is.
And on topic....lost 2 hats because of the brilliant design.

Anyway, I can't say I'm as fortunate as the OP. The computer I'm using needed to be wiped and pretty much started up from scratch a while ago. before that, on the EotN Pre-Order weekend, I tried loading into the area beneath LA. 30k files, each one taking 20 minutes, give or take. 1% was loaded after an hour and a half.
Also, I didn't lag too much in the event. Average ping was 3.5k. I was fine. I rubber-banded a little, but I got all of my gifts and never 007ed.

Haven't bothered with Vista, although I have been told that Vista handles the bigger monitors (I've got a Dell 24inch widescreen 1920x1200) better than XP.
