Which 2 or 3 best skills combo with Illusionary Weaponry?
(Fix me if I'm wrong, attacks do no damage, but the effects also take place [knockdown, conditions] If not, Arenanet has to fix that)
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card]+[card]Cyclone Axe[/card] = Attack All adjacent enemies. A simple combo.
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card]+[card]Bull's Strike[/card]+[card]Pulverizing Smash[/card] = It may do no extra damage, but the target is knocked down and suffers conditions... would it? (A hammer, not the best)
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card]+[card]Rapid Fire[/card]+[card]Poison Tip Signet[/card] = A bow, at least you will be ranged in PvE Mesmer
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card]+[card]Golden Fang Strike[/card]+[card]Jagged Strike[/card]+[card]Horns of the Ox[/card] = A combo for a Mesmer/Sin... might be better for PvP
[card]Illusionary Weaponry[/card]+[card]Mystic Regeneration[/card]+ A bunch of other Enchantments = A good D-fence mesmer.
I wonder what people use for combos with Illusionary Weaponry, PvE and PvP
Illusionary Weaponry, What would go with it?

I wonder what people use for combos with Illusionary Weaponry, PvE and PvP Mystic regen and first one. Other sucks of those. But i would take IAS if possible. Me/W for flurry.

2. Illusionary Weaponry does damage only in melee, not in ranged.
3. Can't do combo attacks. Your lead attack will miss therefore the combo won't work. Or any attack for that matter.
The Me/D is probably your best choice.

The Me/D is probably your best choice. TY for your help, i was wondering to be a Me/D-Me/A etc. However...
1. Illusionary Weaponry say deals no damage, not for attacks to miss. No damage is different from missing. (One you hit, but does nothing-Other you don't hit at all) If thats the case, Arenanet needs to change it from "Attacks deal no damage" TO "All attacks miss" but if all attacks miss? Shouldn't [card]Sand Shards[/card] work with it? I tested it, and it doesn't!
2) Isn't ranged physical, melee, no spells. Doesn't work with spells. But doesn't IW work with any physical attack, staff, spear, bow? If not, once again, the spell discription should change to, close range weapons?

I guess a more accurate description would be "instead of whatever it was supposed to do, your next attack deals this much damage".

Melee attack is a sword, axe, hammer, dagger, or scythe (one that requires you to be adjacent to a foe). Bows, spears, wands, and staves are considered ranged attacks. There are a few skills that are "melee attacks" and at least one that is a "ranged attack", and these skills will be disabled if you don't have the appropriate weapon equipped. The skill behavior matches this definition of melee. |

[skill]illusion of weakness[/skill][skill]illusionary weaponry[/skill][skill]channeling[/skill][skill]flurry[/skill][skill]Ethereal Burden[/skill][skill]Kitah's Burden[/skill][skill]healing signet[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
This can be quite fun for RA and the like ~ Illusion of weakness at the start then healing signet to regenerate the lost health. Illusionary weaponary is your sole damage so you NEED a cover enchantment. In this case that would be channeling ~ low cost long duration and although you wont really get the most out of the energy management aspect of it its there to prevent IW being stripped too easily ~ Maintain it at all times ~ when you recast IW you need to recast channeling also afterwards. Flurry has excellent synergy with IW all of the bonus attack speed but none of the reduced damage output. Ethereal burden and Kitahs burden are your snares and also act in a small way as energy management as they will return more energy than they cost you at the end of the hexes duration.
As a mesmer your AL is low. I would suggest speccing enough into tactics to meet the requirement on a tactics sheild, the extra 16 armour will help alot. I would recommend you weapon swap into a 40/40 illusion set when casting your snares, before obviously going back to your sword/axe and sheild set to attack.
However tbh if you want to hit things roll a warrior sin or dervish imho.

IW pretty much sucks yes. Having lower damage then auto-attacking with a warrior while you are standing in the frontline with 60 AL and basically use your whole bar + energy to maintain: it's bad

[skill]Illusionary Weaponry[/skill] is way better with [skill]Flurry[/skill] than with [skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill]. Swords, axes, and daggers all tie for fastest attack speed, so always take one of those.
IW has many problems though. All melee-range classes need to have an IAS and something to prevent kiting, either a speed boost or a snare, plus IW needs a cover enchantment because any enchantment removal will make you completely useless. Because /A and /D lack an IAS, most people go /W. Without an IAS, IW has absolutely laughable pressure.

Can someone explain to me what exactly does it mean when Illusionary Weaponary says: For 30 seconds, you deal no damage in melee, but whenever you attack in melee, target foe takes 8...34...40 damage.
It seems as if its contradicting itself, I was wondering where the damage is coming from? The weapon or the spell, and How do I properly use it. pre-battle buff or during melee combat?
In case you want to know, I have a Mesmer/Warrior.
Oh and what's IAS?
