There have been many threads complaining about Heroes and their skill usage. Want to hear if anyone has had any better than average experinces with their Heroes. I had an interesting time with a PuG in the Riverside Province the other night.
I am taking my warrior thru all of the Prophesies missions on my second account to open up Hard Mode. I hadn't completed anything beyond Ventari's Refuge, so I went back to finish the Southern Kryta missions. There was only 6 or 7 people in Riverside Province, no Monks, when I got there at 2 am Tuesday morning. I asked if anyone was up for the M&B. Got 3 yes responces, 2 warriors and a ranger. I invited them to group. The Ranger had Ele for her 2nd prof, one warrior used a hammer, the other warrior used a sword like I do. They were levels 15 to 18. I added Dunkoro, healer with res chant, and Jin, an interupter with rebirth.
I tried to explain how we do the bonus and mission, how to avoid too much aggro, etc. We started the mission and got wiped at the tower behind the gate. It turns out, the hammer warrior had only had the game a couple of weeks, 14 hours of play time, didn't understand the aggro bubble. After explaining and a few questions and answers, we restarted.
We cleared all the towers up to the last 2 near the bridge. We targeted the one on the right first. Some how during the fight, the group from the other tower was aggroed. It quickly became very onesided, against us. I turned to run and flagged my heroes way out of harm's way. Jin was our only survivor and flagged way back up the road. One of the warriors asked "Now what?" The ranger asked, "How smart are those heroes?" I said, "Watch" Ranger: " I am, she is just standing there." Since Dunk was closest to Jin, I highlighted him and clicked rebirth. When he was ressed, I heard 3 wows. I flagged them a little closer so she could reach more of us, and ressed each of us. We regrouped and finished the M&B.
I will no longer complain about Jin and her sometimes "Rambo" behavior.

-the multiple times my Morgahn prevented a total wipe in our party. His durability astounds me. xD
-Doing Eternal Grove, me and my 3 heros had the left side. Entire right side wiped, and resigned. I started to die as well, 2 of my heros going down (MM and ele). SOMEHOW, Pyre managed to pick off the mob of afflicted 1 by one, while I healed him. Cleared them out, went to the right side, ressed them, continued.
-The time Zhed ran halfway across the map and got pwnz0rd

I have to admit that i really like my heros....I am a married man...father of 3 and have very few hours to spend in the game trying to find groups etc...so i can log on...load up with H/H and do whatever it is that i need to do... One of my most memorable Hero moments was during Hell's Precipe HM and had a party wipe except for the charr archer....and he had rebirth.... rez and finished the mission........Go, go Power....wait.... Go heros!
The Heroes have taught me a lot about classes that I didn't want to play personally--such as assassin, for example, or necromancer.
Anton and Zenmai have really impressed me by their ability to both dish out damage and stay alive. (I still don't want to play an assassin, tho.
)
And I seldom venture anywhere without one Necro Hero -- another class I am not interested in playing myself but that has tremendous possibilities.
I still need to check into using the paragon and ritualist Heroes more. I confess I almost never bring them along.

SAB's wonder necros. I've vanquished all the 4-man areas and most of the missions HM with these 3 in tow.
It's hilarious watching the naysayers gripe that "you can't take 3 Necros, NOOOOOB!! BRING A MONK AND AN ELE OR I'M LEAVING!!!!!!" Usually about halfway thru the mission they are apologizing.
I have to say the best experience I have had with a henchie was in Zen Daijun mission HM. We had made it as far as the final bosses, the Afflicted farmer and Afflicted Tijo. That dang Rit wiped us. His attacks hit and hit hard. I was the only human in the team and we were all dead in one hit....except for Sister Tai. Tai managed to avoid any more damage and she rezzed the rest of us one by one. We completed the mission and scored Masters.
She accomplished all this without any flagging from me. I'll never say again bad about Sister Tai again.

At least with Heroes you can force them to rezz you if necessary.Quote:

Seriously though, the 3 necro build is preposterously good, and has given rise to a number of other custom builds built around similar principles. Sab, if you're reading this, we owe you one.
When then hench wipe, then I wipe, and all thats left are Koss, Stonehealer, and Vekk. They proceed to kill the vast amounts of enemies that killed most of my H/H team and then res me. Only time this doesnt work is when Jora randomly tries to res me instead of the other monks in the middle of combat. Only she does that for me, soooo Koss took her place back lol.
I love sitting there watching that trio own. They seem to do better without me, which makes me paranoid that they are trying to kill me. Dreams of Anet removing PCs and we all just direct our heroes where to go. ZOMG!

Vizunah Square Hard Mode for masters..
Part pug part hero team in local quater, right at start of the mission the monks go afk, needless to say its a party wipe, almost.
Olias(as a mm) being a fine upstanding gentleman, not only survives till the cut scene but single handedly kills everything in sight. I have never been so proud as when everyone asked "wow, whose is that olias?"
Still makes me smile thinking about it.

I was minding my own business vanquishing with my heroes and all the sudden 10 mobs pop up with about 60 emenies total.
Immediately tahlkora switches to her 40/40 prot sec, insta-casts aegis and procceeds to pre-prot squishies with her enchanting staff while switching to her shield set between casts corresponding to the most threatening damage.
Meanwhile Gwen locates crucial casters, and times her Cry of Frustration well enough to prevent a sleugh of hell-fire from raining down upon us, then procceeds to put migraine on monks, and train them with interrupts on important spells.
Sousuke jumps into action, switching to his 40/40 earth set and slaps down wards in key places, while tahlkora and gwen kite through them evading enemies and preventing damage. Sousuke then re-attunes with his enchanting set and saves his SandStorm for when the enemy monsters all localize on my Koss, due to his lower health. Sousuke then waits a second after casting sandstorm to follow up with dragon-stomp to prevent the from running.
Meanwhile, Koss has been building up and saving adrenaline for this moment, when he switches to his vampiric axe and follows up with sousuke combo with a cyclone axe and triple chop to finish off lucky enemies.
It was an epic match, I love my heroes. Yes, I'm special, I have 4 heroes at a time in my fantasies.

In the 7 heroes thread I were beaten down cos I use 3 necro heroes and its noob apparantly :-(
I use the SS with PWK instead of rip enchantment, the MM with prot spirit and aegis, and the healer has SV for his elite. I go SF with aegis and breath of the great dwarf in my spare slots. So overall we have:
2x aegis
2x PWK
Life
Breath of the great dwarf
SS/barbs/mop/SV
Jagged bomber
Healer with infinate energy
Uber pizownage +1.
