Are Zaishen Keys Worth it

Not worth it imo, even at uax, since there's basically a 5k opportunity cost every time you open it. From the reward points I had I opened it 40 times (200k I could have had from selling keys), got one shield worth about 15k. Chances are I will keep opening the damn thing, but no I don't think it's a good idea. Not unless the price drops a lot per key that is.

Yes they are kinda like lotto tickets, but are people wasting money/balthzar on wasted, low priced items? A-net should maybe increase the chance of rarer items, maybe then prices will go up on zaishen keys? Too many people are wasting soo much on hoping to get something great, and price will eventually drop on zaishen keys because people have spent too much money in return of nothing. This sure isnt the mega million lol.

You've unlocked everything and play pvp and get lots of free keys

Well, if they improved the frequency of ultra-rare drops, then it wouldn't be such a clear cut decision for me to sell all my keys for 4k a pop.

wouldn't change anything, the cost of keys would just got up and 5,000 faction would become 10,000 gold lol, i think the concept in general fails imo

Right now, I think that most sample sets are suspect because no one is accurately tracking their Zaishen drops. Once anyone presents a compelling sample set, and for me, that would be in the realm of a thousand used keys without any excluded chest openings, then you could make a stronger judgment of an appropriate market value for the Zaishen key. If it helps, I'm trying to develop this data right now, but I don't earn many reward points from ATs or Xunlai, and I do a lot of screwing around in PvP, so I'm only earning anywhere from 3 to 10 keys a day off balt faction. I'll post again for every sample of 50 keys that I have.

Increasing the chances for rare drops would have opposite effect - stop rares from being rare and further crapify their value. The key prices would stay unchanged.

- It would only devaluate those "rare" items as the supply of zaishen keys stays constant. And a reasonable price for key is around 500 gold, given that majority of drops are just sugar and ale.

Lockpicks don't work on the Zaishen Chest

I'd say it is worth it if you understand it is a gamble. If you are buying keys from players, hoping for the chance to get that uber rare item and sell for gobs of cash, probably you will be disappointed. If you are spending faction you have gained, or if you are like me and ab is the extent of your pvp, well, it might be worth it.

I like the Xunlai tournament house. However I don't pvp, so the points go into keys. I AB, mostly to get alliance faction. The Balthazar faction is incidental. So then it becomes if I want to waste time trying to sell the key, or if I want to open a chest.

They are like lotto tickets. And to quote a friend of mine in real life:

"The lottery is a state tax on the stupid."

Are they worth 5k? Heck no. The Creme Brulee rate is waaay to high to make them worth even 1k.

Are they worth 5k faction? Absolutely. I have no better use at all for my faction.

its just human nature to bet against the house and win unbelievable amount of cash.

It's a lottory, imo it's not worth it but some people are lucky and get rares, but the rest get creme brulees.

Well in real life a lottery ticket is a $1... these are like $50 lottery tickets for the same bad odds. So worth it, no, it can't be quantified... you'll probably simply lose money, but some people will make out like bandits.
