Are multiple weapon sets really that important in PvE?

I ask this because I've found that when I try to switch weapons right after casting a spell, it doesn't switch immediately. It always seems to switch as long as 1-1.25 seconds after casting the spell. Taking into account the .75 aftercast, thats .25-.5 seconds extra just to switch. And that can mean the difference between life and death imo.

I know in PvP the benefits of getting those extra seconds on a PS, or that fast WoH outweigh this, but in PvE? I'm not so sure. I'm sure it would help, but I'm not sure if those benefits would really make a difference in PvE.

Please correct me if I'm wrong...I don't really have that much experience with weapon swapping (partly because I don't have any other sets to use... )

weapon swapping usually isnt for specific skills, but more for adding/hiding energy. but in PvE you should be fine with a caster sword and an offhand, might want a shield.

Having a spare hand to eat sandwiches is important in PvE.

It's not really critical in PvE. I usually just make a fairly rounded set and sit in that all the time.

I currently use a Kepkhet's Refuge as my one and only monk weapon on my hybrid monk, since it seems pretty well rounded to me.
-Lowers cast time on Aegis with the HCT Protection
-HSR 20% for the heals (since heals are usually fast enough already)
-Enchanting 20% for the prots
-Energy +5 for general energy increase

I keep a protective rod and a wolf's favor. I also keep a poisonous nevermore flatbow to swap in for pulling when soloing a quest (I PUG in missions, and if they expect the monk to pull - it won't matter what weapon I have).

The Rod's I've gained as collector items, the rest of that comes from the game of year edition.

I've never had a sword or shield on a caster, let alone a monk - so no idea how that strategy works.

I don't really think weapon sets are extremely vital in PvE. I personally use my PvP sets in PvE, even though it's completely not necessary.

Only part in PvE where I would consider a second slot necessary, would be in an area with large amounts of e-denial.

I personally still weapon swap in PvE. But only because i am still learning how to do it subconciously
And yeah i suppose Kephkets is alright for normal PvE.

Weapon swapping in pve is good for pvp training, but if you're not interested in that, just sit on your refuge, it's a good weapon.
And Coloneh, weapon swapping is not only about hiding energy, it is about using the most interesting mods for each spell you cast, because it matters.

my 40/40 healing set for healing spells, my prot staff for prot spells/enchants. Sit in my shield set mostly. Swapping weapons for me is now more or less just part of using the skill I'm intending to use.

I just swap I always have as any caster, I dunno why I do in PvE but I just do.

1. Defensive Set
2. Staff
3. 40/40
4. Emergency Set

Its always been that way, if you do decide to start weapon swapping never change the numbers helps to do it on auto pilot.

I use first weapon with max energy and HCR/HCT. But for enchanchment - Healer's Boon, Seed of Life and etc. I switch on weapon with 20% enchancment longer. +20% is +1 sek for seed of life (under 10 rank sunspear), what is very good.
For fast swithing I use script AutoHotkey: switch on weapon 2 - cast the spell - switch on weapon 1. This script I assign key for "the spell" and ater pressing key cast 20% longer with back will do automatically. I see additional delay (vs cast without swithing) about ~0.5s (depend of connection with ArenaNC). For me this is small price for +20% time of some enchancment.
P.S. By the way, I use longbow as 3th weapon for pulling. You can use first weapon with HCT/HCR/20% longer/+energy for base healing and second weapon +60 health for run away. You can think up another reason for use 2nd weapon.

It so doesn't matter that I sometimes play with healing staves when playing a full prot bar.

Multiple sets Important? No.
Usefull? Yes

I use 4 base sets about 99% of the time.
Negative set, (caster) axe + shield, axe + prot offhand, axe + healing offhand.
I only use the negative when under energy denial or when having rebirth on my bar. Or when I still have energy, but expect to die while others are still up.
Getting ressed and being able to swap to a set with more energy is usefull.
The axe + shield is base and axe + offhand in case I need the extra energy for a moment.

It helps for practice in PvP
since a good caster will swap with almost every cast, it's a good thing to start in PvE then
as needed? Warrior's with healing breeze en mending can finish the campaign easily ..

The slight delay to make the switch is negligible since you hopefully won't be spam casting. You see a target about to take damage, switch sets, prot it, and switch back. Overall, it'll increase your awareness. It's not that important, and I've seen many GvG monks that don't do it. All it means is that you're playing at something like 70% efficiency, and if you're content with that, then that's fine. Sometimes PvE is meant to be a break while you're eating a sandwich

And yes, it's a good practice place for weapon swapping in GvG. Once you get used to weapon swapping in PvE, you can move into higher pressure GvGs and practice there.

I personally try and weapon swap for everything I do. Inbetween fights I'll run around in a sword and shield set, In fights I either have my prot staff for preprotting/active protting or my 40/40 healing set, or a 40/20/+30 healing staff I use occasionally. (word of healing is fun when it has the same cast time as rof ). And yes I have had to switch into my highset in pve plenty of times.

HM frostmaw was a good example

Getting ressed and being able to swap to a set with more energy is usefull. This is probably the most important PvE swap that a character can do.

Otherwise, the PvE game tends to be easy enough to not have to min/max everything. Sure, it helps, but it can also be annoying. I never swap if I'm H/H-ing.
