As I sloooooooooooooowly progress through the drunkard title I was thinking of a few things that would make it a little less tedious.
1. Increase the level of drunkenness to levels above 5. Maybe to 10 or 15 since there are different drinks that can give you 5 levels of drunkenness. This would make it so that you don't have to click on another ale ever minute or two to keep the title going, but maybe every five minutes drink another five ales. Best case scenario, in my judgment, would be to have no limit, just drink a lot of ale and then wait, and wait, and wait for it to where off before you can go do something else.
2. To complement that, a little box could be displayed in the top left of the screen, like sweet tooth does, with say a mug of ale and a number saying what level of drunkenness you are on. This would make it so that you don't have to stare at your hero panel all the time and hope you don't forget what the last number was to keep you drunk enough to work on the title and not waste money (that this title costs a lot of).
3. I would be reminisce not to mention making it like sweet tooth where it is 10,000 points instead of minutes, but that would be grossly unfair to the people who actually did stare at a swirling screen for 16 days.
The first two would still make you sit at the computer for 16 days drinking ale, but make it so that you don't have to have your attention focused on keeping your drunkenness up. The third, as nice as it would be, would be unfair to people that already did it because of the less money needed and a lot less time, but it never hurts to put it out there.

signed... who cares for the others, would i've had done it with 1 chara still, I would grant other players this overall improvement, because all my other x characters of my account, wqhich have not the title would also have then a benefit from that change ... so its far more a win win, then anyhow an unfair loss ...
so who cares for people, which still have the titlwe maxed...wow, they had to stare for 16 days at the pc ...had someone forced them to do it ?
Also you doesn#t get forced to drink only in towns and sit around ..you can work on that title also, while you play normally ... and even have a little benefit through it, due to dwarven skills, which are better, when u are drunk

And as for the stipulation that #3 would irritate those who are already Incorrigible? No. I got the now-equivalent of Legendary Skill Hunter (Elite Skill Hunter) when there was no maxed title for it, no really big cool reward. I also finished getting Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer after the arenas were inaccessible but before they got removed from the map. Tell me about scraping. I do not begrudge any of the people who've gotten an "easier time" or "a knowledge of reward" before going for those two titles, so I daresay anyone should hate on an edit to the Drunkard title to make sense.

I find it odd that to get this title, anet makes you stay in one place doing absolutly nothing but clicking 2 times a minute for 16 days. make it like sweet tooth, 1 point/drink. but have you become drunk to allow for the dwarf skills. Also make it that if you drink less than 3 at a time you get no points. (firewaters, and spiked egnogs give more points)

Very excellent ideas here, I too wish to speeeeeeeed this proccess up, soooo looong..... I agree with wetsparks about the increased "potency" of drinks so as to speed up the proccess. But wouldn't this just be a show of how rich someone is by buying titles; thats the only problem I foresee. Excellent topic!
I would sign but...

Yes, that little gimmick does make drunkard go faster, but it also makes it cost a hell of a lot more money.
That is a 66.7% increase in the amount of alcohol needed. Before the loot scaling nerf, that would suck, but doable. With loot scaling, less money from farming, value of lots of items gone down, makes it a lot harder to get the money for that much extra ale.

Q: That's a [explitive deleted] huge amount of alcohol! Isn't that going to cost a fortune? How much did it cost you? A: Yes, unfortunately acquiring all the alcohol needed for this title can cost a great deal. If you don't have the cash, your best bet is to do what I did: Wait until Wintersday and farm your fanny off. You can lessen the farming you'll need to do by spending the time between now and then looking for cheap alcohol being sold by other players. |
