I've been trying to kill him for a while now, I've tried several Curses / Blood / Ss / Sv combinations, and cant seem to get it 'just right'. I know for sure that necros can beat 'The Bison'. So if anyone knows, could they perhaps be kind enough to post a build that works against him and all the other 'participants'?

As I have repeated quite some times on this forum you can just go /Rt and spirit spam him to death.

All other builds will need to get lucky to some extent to make it. I've defeated Bison using a Signet of Midnight based build and also with SV/Spirit Bond but there are enemies that will pose a definite problem to both approaches. I personally find the "duel" quests very badly designed because it's more of a case of "you're a <insert unfavored class here>, gg" than anything. Thus I prefer farming these quests with the easiest build possible.

it's not like doing bison is that rewarding except for the first couple times through where you get 2 heroes and Zho's journal.

after that what is there?

minimal norn points
a ugly ass crown

just go /Rt and get it over-with

if you're concerned about norn points there are much faster ways to get them

55/SV N/MO:
[skill]Spoil Victor[/skill][skill]Blood Renewal[/skill][skill]life siphon[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Watchful Spirit[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Necrosis[/skill]

Standard 55 gear with a blood headpiece. That's enough regen to survive even Tydus. Mhenlo seems to be a 105 rather than a 55, since he kills himself instantly. All of the melee are insanely easy. Actually, Zehtuka is probably the hardest since he rarely attacks you directly, which can hurt your energy a lot.

Spirit Spam X/Rt:
[skill]vampirism[/skill][skill]pain[/skill][skill]bloodsong[/skill][skill]anguish[/skill][skill]wanderlust[/skill][skill]shadowsong[/skill][skill]summon spirits[/skill][skill]painful bond[/skill]

Works for any caster class. +20e staff is probably best option. Summon in order listed while behind the gate, then use summon spirits as soon as you cross the doorway. Cast painful bond and KABLOOM. For Bison, let him get blinded and use his purge sig once before you painful bond him. If someone gets off a firestorm or worries you with their 10% chance to hit through blind, just use summon spirits to yank them out of harm's way. (BTW: This build is at something like 30 wins and zero losses for my rit primary.)

For Zehtuka, just keep moving. He's a trapper, so wait until he starts trapping and run away...over and over. Keep LS (or any hex) on him and pop him with Necrosis when you stop running. It takes a minute or two, but it always gets him.

Spiritway works, until you run into Razah. If that happens just resign and try again.

If your spirit interupt him making them, he will be defensless, then just spamm some more and use painful bond.

I said that he was the hardest because everything else is nearly an insta-kill, so he is harder than the others. (And he really was simply "hard" back when the spectators healed him. I'd have to run him out of energy so he'd come up and melee me.)

Eve uses Insidious Parasite. Don't attack. Xandra uses Vengeful Weapon. Don't attack and don't use Necrosis. I don't think Danika's wallows use life steal... at least I don't remember losing to them...

You have a head start; he shouldn't have more than one or two spirits down by the time you finish summoning. Use Summon Spirits a second time to yank your spirits into range, painful bond him, then back up out of his spirits' range. Easy win.

just like to say no self respecting necro should have to switch all of their skills to another profession, necros are the most fun characters and shouldn't be kicked to the side

i beat him 6 times, once for cup and 5 for tokens with this build:

N/MO
105hp
8 prot
16 blood
13 soul reaping

wielding milthuruns staff

prot spirit - cultists fervor - masochism - blood renewal - life siphon - blood drinker - angorodons gaze - vampiric bite

you pretty much never run out of energy, just keep the enchantments up, especially prot spirit, vamp bite heals 77 hp and costs just 4 energy to use, and angorodons gaze heals 79 hp and gives you 8 energy =)

if you fight danika, brutus, sheena resign this build cant over power the healing with blood ritual there

also for the enchantment removers, stick on some alternate armor and the norn title and you should go over 500hp, just dont use enchantments, with the exception of blood renewal for the 200hp when it ends, avoid using vampiric bite as well since it will use up your energy quite quickly

Actually you are wrong about your skills.

Vampiric Bite will cost 15e to use. It isn't a Spell, it's a Skill.

Oh, and I'm a self-respecting necro. I'm self-respecting enough to choose the optimal subclass for any given situation.

your not a self respecting necro your entire skill set doesnt have anything remotely to do with a necro

and you may be right about vampiric bite, but like i said i used this build and you never run out of energy since each spell has a -7 energy cost (cultists fervor) and +4 energy gain (masochism), so basically any spell that costs 10 en or below gains energy

well considering this is a one vs one tournament and nothing dies, you are not using soul reaping and therefore nothign to do with a necro, so i dont think its narrowminded i think its true

^ I cannot even understand the above sentence.

Like it or not, Guild Wars is a dual-class system. You are even required to choose a secondary to progress in the game, it isn't an optional choice.

Not that it matters, but the Bison tournament isn't a one vs one tournament. It's a PvE quest which you play against a computer. A PvE quest is a puzzle. You are given a set number of variables and are asked to come up with a solution. In normal PvE play that would mean bringing the right professions and the right builds. In play where the party size is limited to 1 it is essentially the same thing.

You are yourself admitting that your build is flawed. You note that "if you meet opponent X = Fail". Whereas the /Rt spirit spammer build gets the job done quickly, with minimal problem, for almost any class. It's the solution to the puzzle.

it may be flawed, but if u wanted to use all rt skills you should of been an rt but what i am saying is just dont just assume its impossible using necro builds and resort to having to use all rt skills

and also on a side note i think thats the only real use of cultists fervor

I have a ritualist and a necromancer and the synergy between the necromancer primary attribute and most of the ritualist spell line is so much stronger than with any other primary (including Spawning Power) that it is often worth forsaking the extra 4 available from runes and choose a N/Rt in favor of a Rt/x when using exclusively ritualist skills.
