See title, Guildwars does kind of lend itself to courage.. and, conversely cowardice.

I remember when doing the northern wall for the first time, we'd battled our way to the back, and been horrified by the sheer size of the charr themselves, let alone their numbers. We thought we had to stay and fight, rather than run, but when it all got too much our team leader ordered us to fall back to the wall.

We ran like the wind, but they just seemed to be coming out of the walls. We thought that they would catch us, that we'd done something out of place and we'd have to restart.

Just before they reached us on that final bridge before the wall, our team leader said "Keep going! I'll hold them off!!" and turned to face the charr. She was lvl10 whereas the rest of us were lvl6/7, she held them off for long enough for us to get ahead. But, inevitably, she died.
She seemed so courageous then, i thought she'd die and we'd finish the mission, but she'd have to restart!

*sigh* newb times.

So, anyone else got any stories of brave warriors charging to save an innocent squishy? A ranger dogding through countless enemies to interupt a devastating spell from a backline ele?

And please, hold the flames. Theres no need.

Striking act of bravery? ... Braving the horrid smell of something decomposing in the fridge to get to the bacon.

I did something similar except it was in HM and I was a warrior. I didn't last long, I think I was hit with like 4 or 5 Eviscerates

ah yes, the great northen wall, what warrior didnt think they could tank them all at lvl 10ish

awsome 8AL shield, check
expensive armour from ascalon, check
awsome white axe with no mods, check
sword runes for an axe build, check
mending, check
HB, check

over confident wammo sure his "C space" bash plan would work, check

was alot of space bar bashing (all warriors know the more you bash space bar the faster you attack) but not alot of dead char.

I got my sweet revenge on all those Charr later by doing an Edge of Extinction/Whirling Defense bomb after I reached level 20. It felt really good: you haven't lived until you've seen ~50 Charr die at once. Then EoE got nerfed. Doh!

Taking up for a random bystander in TOA. There was a lot of four letter words and yelling.

SOme time ago, I started in a mood of beeing bored guiding new charakters/new players after leaving the tut (in tyria of course ), showing them how to start missions, explaning them how the game mechanic works, and so on.
I did that myself with my 2nd Mesmer, lvl 13, but equipped with Max armor (yeah, the first char I rushed... :/ ) and a build with Ineptitude (Tomes ftw), Arcane Echo and Epidemic. Same situation, and i told them also to run... and i stood there the hole time, getting almost no damage... it was a great feeling doing this with a lvl 13 char, and also as a mesmer, which is the most horrible class at all if u ask most players. The Elementalist in this Team asked me after that: How long will it take for me, to be able to do this also?
Was really nice

But now btt...^^

The bravest action I heard of was the Idea of the Leader of my former Guild.
You remember the heroic death of the one dwarf at the beginning of the first coop at Fire islands? He decided to play this Mission and to keep he heroic dwarf alive... Don't know If they managed it, the first trials were not successful.
I love such ideas, they make the game more... vital. ^^

Myself, in Fort Aspenwood, when I was gathering faction for the Luxons so I could get to the Jade Sea. I ran in alone healing the siege turtle (it had no one helping it and was losing health fast), with a few rangers at the wall above all shooting down at me causing massive degen. I died, but the other team actually applauded my bravery for not running away to save myself but instead trying to keep the turtle alive.

It's only bravery if you're successful. If you fail, it's stupidity. ^^

I'm going to have to go with "Monking against a rangerspike without an infuser." We won too, if only barely

Saving Siadra in Ice caves in Hard mode, then attacking the large group of mursaat.

We actually suceeded, but failed when we got to the monk boss.

Well, my situation was more desperation than bravery.

I was doing Eternal Grove with a pug, and eventually, they all died to the afflicted save me, I my res sig was already used. As my elem, I fought with all my might solo, and killed all the Afflicted waves by myself for about 5 minutes, until the assassin boss killed me.

Of course, the singers helped me manage the aggro, there was like two remaining at the end. But still, I was complimented with "wow" or "holy shit" remarks.

not true but anyway ---

One brave thing I remember is myself and my guild leader at the time took 2 assasins with us into Viznuah Square. No one would take them and we wanted to help.

Had a few mishaps but my GL was a darn good monk - in the end we made it and masters on top of it all.

It was great to have helped people move along in the game

I pulled that off not to long ago. Sadly he runs over to his spot and just falls over dead anyway.

The most striking act of bravery I've seen so far was at Thunderhead Keep. I'd gone with a random PUG - a warrior with 3 heroes (monk and 2 nukers), two dervishes, a monk, and myself (mesmer). When the Mursaat siege started we split into two groups. The warrior took his heroes to one gate while the two dervishes, the monk and I took the other gate.

After the first wave of Mursaat, the monk in my group disappeared completely (I think he must have lost his connection or something). Both dervishes immediately told me to get back and avoid aggro. They kept the Mursaat away from me without any healing support while I softened up the targets I could.

We beat the mission in the end

I would have to say when in AB with Guildies Running a Mob stoping build Thats 4 vs 12 and hitting head on in a narrow pathway and watching 12 people + minnions drop at 1 time (oo yea got a bunch of Screen shots with 12 luxon bodys in a circle around me heheheh)
or better Yet running in Random Arena and have all 3 team mates die with the other team at 4 still and kill them all /rank over their dead bodys
gotta love the WOW and HOLY SHIT from the 3 dead team mates makes you feel so Kingly

Better yet Joining in a 1v1 Tourney with a guild, I was useing my War vs another War with his guildies standin around me when all the sudden 2 sins poofed next to me and started attackeing. Me completly ingnoring them Killed the war Changed target Killed 1 sin the 2nd started to run But i killed him as well LOL only 2 guildies were left standing so i killed the thumper and the Guild leader Bowed said Plz dont kill me And asked me to join their guild (well needless to say I did not take them up on that offer). Now thats Fun!!!!

Gwen. Yup, the young lass did her good deed as the last of my group alive, running this way and that while six Centaur lashed at her from one side, three Whirling Wisps on the other. She was slowly going down, but she hit this boss with something and it died. Boom, I saw Mhenlo pop back up since her signet had then recharged - then Lina, then Jora and Goren, then me and others. Blam! We killed off the rest and left their corpses to rot.

I was in AB guarding the rez shrine when 5 Kurzies tried to cap it. I had 4 minions and kept them and myself alive for quite a while. Plus I put Death Nova on everything so when they killed me and my minions in a mass nuke 4 of my 5 attackers died. The only one left was the monk and he couldn't cap the shrine by himself.
