Well, you obviously need ideas. Seeing as how your doing double AB awards... which might have been cool the week after factions came out.
Some ideas that were awesome in the past:
UW/FoW access weekend
Double Hero points weekend
Double Sunspear/Lightbringer weekend
Special events (festivals, etc...)
What we ALL want now... DOUBLE EoTN REP WEEKEND. To purchase the new armors and get an actual benefit from the skills, we need to get ranked. And with no HardMode, or area that naturally gives more than 1point per kill (Ex. Istan=1point per kill, Desolation will give you 7pts a kill: Sunspear pointS) Than it's pretty lame.
I spent a long time (2 and 1/2 hours) farming for Monument armor for my warrior with the Devourer and i got eally bad luck with the bonuses and stuff.
So, basically, we need at least a 2x point for the new titles. A 4x point would be awesome, seeing as how at even 2 points a kill, 26k points is a TON to get.
Post your opinion about this, and more weekend events! (Double tome weekend =o)
One that I just thought of... it would be REALLY cool as an total ingame addin... a LOTTERY. 100g-1k to get a ticket, and the results are anounced globaly (like HoH winners) every 6hours or so.
And another in-game addition that would be cool, is give the HoH winners more of a reward. Winning halls is supposed to be the most difficult thing in the game, why not reward them? One person getting an r9 Runic blade in a group used to be "OMFG!!!! IM RICH!!!!!!!!! wts: runic blade, 100k+500e" Now, its pretty much, "wts:runic blade 70k obo" Please... add more AWESOME weapon skins, available as HA drops only. Also, it would be kinda neat if you achieve a "Divine Aura" around you for 30minutes. Like, if you win halls than you lose, you could be in the HA outpost, or a PvE outpost with a Big glowing light around you so people could be like "Congrats!"
Ideas for weekend events...

You do know you get bonuses for killing stuff right? The snowman dungeon nets several k worth of points because of neat bonuses like +4 points/kill. And double points for 45 secs, and when you slay a mob, it gets replenished. I even saw a bonus, after 250+ kills, that says for 60 seconds, get +10 points/kill! :>O
So, after a while, it snowballs, and you can rake in some really good points.
So, find a place where baddies regenerate, and start killing!

the bonuses are good if you are in a tightly packed area like the snowman dungeon. ebon vanguard areas are pretty tricky when it comes to milking those bonuses. don't know how many hunt rampages i've lost trying to look for the next group. so you make up for it by going more trips, and trying not to weep that it reminds you of some random korean MMO where you grind for xp.

Random Weekend Event
All characters during that weekend who are level 20, (not ruining new players first impression) are transformed random Asura, Charr or Norn and even maybe random skill bar based to their profession. This just mean that player take look of random NPC from one of their races.
Demigod Weekend Event
Everyone become level 31 and all attributes are 50 by default during that weekend event.

Although i think it would have to be like the April Fools day thing they did where they swapped your sex whilst in LA, Kaineng and Kamadan. Rather than have it be all weekend.

Fast forward to nowadays and sure, PUGs are horrible - but that is only because no one joins them except the newest players, by and large. So while I agree with you that joining PUGs now is largely a waste of time, it wouldnt be if people would drop their security blankets for a bit.
Bored to tears now of H/H play, everyone standing around with 4's over their heads, and the concept of team play being finding a singular friend or guildie and loading up the heroes. I had good times doing that, mind you, while getting Legendary Guardian, but it got dull for me over time. Hard for me to continue finding things I want to do with a team of heroes.
GW PvE has pretty much turned into play with bots or stand around and chat. Maybe not a bad thing, but I for one at least wouldnt mind a brief respite from that pattern.
