I started playing Guild Wars with Factions loved it. Every town was full and was so easy to get a party together to go do a mission. But now it seems the GW-World is so big, everyone is somewhere else or doing something different. Making it a real pain to get a party together (there might be plenty of people in that particular town, but they aint there to do the same mission, if you get my meaning).

Is anyone here still yet to do the Heart Of The Shiverpeaks quest?
I can't find you in the game anymore

People are still there but who wants to make teams when heros are better?

I go out with heroes/henchies mostly or with guildies...random player groups are just not doable. Too many dumb players that don't get it and that costs me too much time.

Whenever I go out with random players I am reminded again why it was a bad idea to do so. There are of course exceptions but they are too rare.

Try using 'LFG' instead, but more importantly, while people can still beat missions using heroes and henchmen, chances are very slim you'll find others to play with, especially in the later areas of the game. If you have a guild though, try asking them for help!

I think it will settle down and be more people later...lots of people are still getting their first character thru the game and once they do they will then either repeat stuff or bring their other 8 characters thru. I pug only when on my monk (because I find it a pain to heal and manage hero's at same time since they follow my target) so on my monk I PUG and of course have little problem finding a group, but ranger is same way, I like to spread conditions and interrupt different targets but when I tab thru my heros run around like idiots following my target so I usually pug or guild on those 2 characters. Give it a little time and I think it will get better

EDIT: on a side note, when pugging be sure to designate a group leader or target caller..and make sure that person knows who to target first, second, etc (for example do not start beating on the enemy tank first instead of the healer, mesmer, elly, or necro) and everyone follow his target. Lots of pugs fail because they each think they have to do things their own way instead of working as a team. Hero's seem easier because they attack who you attack, but if you could get people to follow the leader they would be better because they are smart enough not to cast in malestrom or keep casting on a spell breaking monk, etc.

As for my guild/alliance, they all seem to be doing their own thing too.

I almost always use henchies except when you get to a mission like the one I'm on now.

Yep heroes pretty much killed the PUG. Generally the only teams you see for normal missions now are guild groups or old friends. Although they were a godsend for me and a friend who pretty much played the game as a 2 man co-op. I mean seriously, Devona, Little Thom, Lina, Mhenlo, Dunham and Aidan in the ROF islands! But that was still better than the few experiences of a PUG we tried. Rage quitters, AFKers, idiots and a**eholes put us off that.

Having said all that I will gladly come with you for the heart of the Shiverpeaks, give me a shout in game if you still want to do it. (I hope I can do it again having done it once)

At least heroes are predictably stupid, with ppl you just never know. It's more fun playing with real ppl, but more efficient playing with AI

What heros and henchies did you take with you?
Any particular strategy?

I've only had one stab at it, but needless to say, I was caught slightly off guard Had no idea what I was running into.

It's not a surprise that people don't want to risk PUG-ing. Often it's just a waste of time

Guild Wars is just too big as it is now. Everyone is too spread apart. LFGs takes some time, and people like to rush as fast as they can through the quests, missions, etc. (Not to mention that PUGs have an awful reputation...)

Not only that, but there's so much to do in GW:EN at this point in time and with no clear-cut route to do it all.

GWEN is a little more decentralized, without clear "YOU ARE IN A MISSION NOW" outposts. I haven't joined a single PuG in GWEN. However, I group up plenty with guildies, so it all works out.

Join a good guild and all your worries will melt away.

In GWEN, I only opted to find a group of real people in Heart of the Shiverpeaks and A Time for Heroes. I may do the Defense of the Eye with real people, or at least run away so the converging hordes don't trample me to death.

Actually, they're the only two places in GWEN so far here I needed them. I'm a casual player, so tweaking my hero/henchie builds just isn't all that fun for me. I just want to go out, explore, blast stuff, you know?
