Okay, so guildwiki says that if you have a tapestry shred from pre-Searing in your inventory, Gwen will give you a quest in the Hall of Monuments that gives you her flute as a unique reward. My fiance and I are trying to get a tapestry shred from her in pre-Searing but she won't take the flute or cape, just the flowers (and she won't give us the Gwen's Flute quest), so she won't give us the shred. What's going on? Someone help please!

Okay, my fiance's char is a mesmer with no secondary, and he just went out there by himself and still nothing. Is there a certain quest we have to do? She won't give us the Gwen's Flute quest yet.

I already beat the Ebon Vanguard primary. But I didn't have a tapestry shred from pre-Searing. So my fiance made a pre-Searing character (his main beat all 3 campaigns) to get me one. And she won't give him the Gwen's Flute quest so she won't take the flute or cape. She only takes the flowers and doesn't give us a tapestry shred. And we're both Tyrian characters. He obviously is since he's in pre-Searing, and my character is Tyrian as well.

Gwen wouldn't have taken the rose form them if they hand't completed the vanguard story.
Sorry, I can't help you out, but I hope you get it sorted out and complete the quest

.Is Gwen already wearing a cape and holding a flute in presearing? Unfortunately, there is a bug where if you've partied with anyone who has given her these items already, the game thinks that you have as well, so you can't give them to her, meaning you can't get the tapestry shred. That's the only thing I can think of that would not allow you to give them to her.

Yeah, that'll work. I had to have a second character get the tapestry shred for my main, since my main got LDoA. So, what with the hundreds of people I got to open the gate for me, many of them would have already given Gwen a cape and flute.

I'm trying to understand, but did you Fiance make a Monk in pre?
Girl Gwen will not give the "Flute Quest" to Monks... (sucks). (although I'm not sure that will necessarily keep Gwen from giving you the tapestry...)
Also, as someone metioned, if you join up with someone who's already received the Tapestry Shred, you're screwed. Try making a new character.
If worse comes to worse, and you just can't get one, PM me (Amara Dawnbreaker) and I'll give you one. It's late tonight, but maybe tomorrow...

Well, the character he was trying to do it on was a mesmer, but perhaps he did journey with someone who'd already given her the things. He deleted that character and now he has a monk, but he had an extra character slot. So I made one on his account (an elementalist) and I did manage to get the Gwen's Flute quest. I gave it to her, so now I believe all I have to do is buy her a new flute, a girl's cape, and give her some red iris flowers. Wonder why she doesn't give the quest to monks...maybe because she heals? I don't know. lol
This reminds me, wiki says that only Tyrian-born characters can trigger the dialog with Gwen in the Hall of Monuments (prior to the Fire and Pain quest), but my fiance's character that he took in there is a dervish (obviously not Tyrian) but the dialog still triggered. Is this because he had a tapestry shred in inventory or storage or something? Or is it a glitch? It seems that if the character isn't Tyrian, that shouldn't trigger no matter what. But I could be wrong. hehe However, my ranger is Tyrian and I took her in there with a preserved red iris flower in my inventory, but the dialog didn't trigger. She did give me the Fire and Pain quest though. Oh well, I want her unique flute. hehe Thanks everyone!

Okay, I was wondering - my fiance has an extra character slot but I'm all out (lol). So he has a pre-Searing character that I made on his account (an elementalist with no secondary profession yet). Is it possible for him to trade the tapestry shred with me on my account if get gets one? Thanks!

This is good to know. I had given up all hope of getting this quest, because my main is Cathan born. I can't stand not being able to do everything in the game at least once with my main...
Thanks!!!
Edit: Guess I messed up some where?? I just went back with the tapestry shred and broken flute, but, she did not have the quest. I do remember doing another quest with her before, so maybe that's it???

Yes, once he is out of pre. Unless you have a pre on your account to trade with him. I have a Tyrian born monk and that is how I got the tapestry shred and broken flute on my main (Canthan born Ranger).
