Do you guys think obsidian armor is the reason they made the new eye of the north armor so plain and boring?
It's just that obsidian is so expensive and hard to obtain, people that have this armor may have complained to anet saying, "there better not be something better than my fow armor!!"
I'm at a loss to explain why the new armor is so unappealing beside that possibility. any thoughts?
The reason GW:EN armor is boring?

Well, in my honest opinion, these "new" sets arn't really there for the experienced players. Rather, the speciality helms, and gloves ARE. While yes, we have to farm ponts to gain access to the armours, I really don't see why you would unless you're a collector.
While, for me at least, chaos gloves, glasses, dragon gauntlents, etc etc etc, are nice little prizes at the end of the journey through all four campaigns. They're tropheys, to make you think about charactor customizatuion beyond just "oh look at me, I gots obsidian armour! I MUST be rich!." No, these new speciality armour peices are there for us to experiment on what we like our charactor appearence.
The true gem lies within the speciality armours. The really expensive ones that require you to work for, and farm for the collector items. Besides, it wouldn't be the same if they just simply handed us the armours. The argument that "wah wah wah, grind. wah wah wah." is mute. Nothing is truely free, and you have to work for what you like/want.
