I have been playing Guild Wars for almost as long as it has been out. I own any and everything that NCSoft has allowed people to buy that involves Guild Wars, so I like the game a lot. I expected a lot out of this game but I feel that it fell short. First of all, the big seller for this game was going to be new armor, weapons, and bridging the gap between GW 1 and GW 2. The story line is nice and enjoyable. I feel that Guild Wars turned out great for that. My complaints come with the armor, weapons, and titles.
The armor is a big loss. There is not much new about it. Most of the armor looks like other armors. You have to play for a very long time before you are allowed to buy it and then the fact that it costs so much, you have to save everything you get and that within itself will take a long time since earning money in Guild Wars takes so long.
The weapons are nice so far, a lot of them use skins from previous campaigns but there are a few new ones.
The titles are fun but not worth earning except for the armor which more and more people are complaining about as they get the capability to purchase it. The titles that you earn are only usable in the area they are earned in. An example: Earning the Norn title only helps and benefits one that uses the Norn title in the Norn lands. If you leave the lands to say... anywhere, the blessing from the title is no longer allowed. My problem with this is that this game does not benefit any of the other campaigns much. I thought that it would be beneficial to benefit the players that all ready play the game by offering blessings or skills that can be used outside of Eye of the North.
The skills earned are usable, but just as the other PvE only skills; they are short lived and easily forgotten. There is not much need to have PvE only skills if people won't even use them in PvE because the skills are more of a wasted slot than a benefit to the game.
I have heard from some players that GW should not make the game have capabilities to be easier because it might then be too easy and become boring. Well, I thought that was why Hard Mode was intoduced so that players that thought GW was too easy for them would have more of a difficult time playing?
All in all, GWEN turned out to be a nice expansion to teach us all about the story line. The problem is that the "special features and new material" turned out to not be very impressive. I feel that GW has let a lot of people down in that way and I do not believe that GWEN will be as remembered as Prophecies or Nightfall.
