defeating the Glacial Griffon?

Do you guys have any suggestions for defeating the griffon (quest: Cold As Ice) with an assassin primary? Relying on crit defenses to keep the spirits at bay while hacking away at the griffon is inadequate and too much based on whether a stray shadowsong attack will get through that 25% gap.

Use poison arrow or apply poison and drag him around until you are higher up than him and he gets stuck. That's the only way I could beat him on my warrior. Yay for glitches!

I would suggest massive degen. You're gonna laugh, but I beat him on my Warrior with Life Transfer, Life Siphon and another degen spell. Just kite and reapply your degen and he'll go down.

It'll take quite some time though.

I think degen and running around works ok. On my paragon I didn't have Life Transfer at the time so i used Grenth's Balance. Took him down pretty fast but had to do the last part throwing spears while he was stuck .

Bah.
Disrupting Stab, Wild Strike, Horns of the Ox, Moebius Strike, Critical Strike, "You Move Like a Dwarf!", Way of Perfection and something else, forgot what.
Interrupting him so he won't place any spirits is the key, once he's at 50% hp it's easy- just Moebius Horn him.

Stay away from the spirits. I beat him with a Ripostes build.

So if I did something with seeping wound/falling spider/twisting fangs and some curses hexes, would that work? or should I just forget about using sin skills and go cap life transfer or something..

Use poison or damage, and if you where you spawn, lure him back into the wall (kinda where the shelve type of things are) he will run through to you, and start casting spirits, and lock him self there.

Grab a flatbow and walk up the left or right hill, or you can just poison/bleed and kite

Heh.
Didn't you ever watch Thundercats when you were younger?
I tried it the way you did at first and failed... but then I noticed I had "Call of the Eye" on me... and realised it actually meant the Eye of Thundera.... and it all became clear.

What I used to beat it:

[skill]Way of Perfection[/skill][skill]Sight Beyond Sight[/skill][skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Critical Agility[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill]

I'm sure you can work the attributes out yourself. Just load up with Critical (13) and Dagger and throw the rest into Shadow Arts. Runes are a must.

When you see the bastard appear, activate Way of Perfection.
When he turns red... stick on Critical Agility.
When you hit with Golden Phoenix Strike, activate Critical Defenses.
And above and beyond the rest... when he is close to completing Shadowsong, activate Sight Beyond Sight.

Easy as pie.
You might get blinded once or twice if you're unlucky... but activate SBS as soon as it recharges and you should be fine.
If you're not totally alright with it as is, use Daggers of Enchanting.

I hit him with degen and then he ran away behind his spirits (the centre red dots). I then legged it up the hill at the side of him, out of range of his spriits, but in his aggro range. I then used the bear eite norn skills to attack him at range as seen. He soon went down..

Just for people who needs help with this in the future.... (",)

One method that'll work with ALL CLASSES is as a Primary/Secondary NECROMANCER:-

SKILLS:
1) Animated Bone Minions
2) Animated Bone Horror
3) Animated Shambling Horror
4) Blood of the Master
5) Grenth's Balance
6) Anything (Preferably Energy Boost)
7) Anything (Preferably Energy Boost)
8) Anything (Preferably Energy Boost)

ATTRIBUTES: Death Magic as high as possible. Do whatever you want with the rest... Keep in mind that energy management is very important here.

WEAPON/ARMOR: Anything that gets your Energy to 50 and above...

STEPS:

Before the Glacial Griffon arrives/become hostile run to the wolves' corpses.

BEGIN CASTING:
1. Animated Bone Minion (2 Minions Total),
2. Animated Bone Horror (3 Minions Total),
3. Animated Shambling Horror (4 Minions Total),
4. Animated Bone Minion (6 Minions Total),
5. Animated Bone Horror (7 Minions Total),
6. Animated Gone Minions (9 Minions Total).

Don't bother healing your undeads before you get 7 or more of them. Concentrate on getting more minions first. Wait a while to gain energy if required. Don't worry, by the time you get 6-7 minions out, he won't be summoning any/too many spirits.

By the time you get 7-9 minions, he'll be too busy dealing damage to them to even worry about killing you.

Using Blood of the Master, heal your minions when you see their health going lower than 75%. Otherwise, don't waste too much energy. Keep up the healing until YOUR OWN health's pretty low. Use Grenth's Balance on the Griffon - it'll take a huge chunk of HP from it for yourself. Continue to heal your minions and use Grenth's Balance when YOUR HP is low.

Rinse and Repeat. He'll be wasted in no time.

Hope this helps... It's pretty simple, but you've gotta be fast, especially in the beginning.

Good luck!

Cheers.

I've seen it mentioned repeatedly, but I can't seem to find any listing of it. x-x;

[skill]Golden Fox Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Shattering Assault[/skill][skill]Sight Beyond Sight[/skill][skill]Critical Eye[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Critical Agility[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill] or [skill]Way of Perfection[/skill] or [skill]Critical Strike[/skill] <--- I'd go with Critical strike

best build so far is
[skill]auspicious parry[/skill][skill]riposte[/skill][skill]deadly riposte[/skill] and running away from ghosts just hit him once in a while so he cant regenerate.

used it to beat magni and the griffin with my paragon. should work on all other classes as well.

That above, does not work ( I'm summoning as fast as possible, but about 3 seconds after his name turns red, theres 4 spirits out), does anyone have a Necro build that works, I'm so close to abandoning, zero fun

longbow, /rit secondary and nightmare weapon...

camp up someplace and keep stealing life from him... run around if needed.

I basically used a similar build to do the norn tournament with a dervish/rit.

You can add bloodsong, vampirism, nightmare weapon and should work fine.
