I apologize if I'm missing a hidden mechanic or special PvE monster ability, but I've been running into a strange problem while going thru GW:EN. Somewhat frequently I will be battling a mob (with my warrior), and the monster I am attacking will suddenly start taking 0 damage. I run a Conjure and many +damage attack skills with Dragon Slash, and all I see are yellow 0's. I do not see them activate any new monster skill, which is rather confusing. They do not use stoneflesh aura, I do not see shield of absorption, and I realize there is a new monster skill for plant monsters for like hibernation or something that reduces all damage.
The species that this has happened to that I can remember off the bat are Sheik in the Finding the Bloodstone dungeon and Destroyers, though I know it's happened with other monsters. This has happened to enemy assassins, warriors, necromancers, etc. etc., and Destroyer mobs don't even have monks (the ones I've run into anyway). I usually am forced to switch targets to a "vulnerable" monster, abandoning the current one (who often is sitting in a Savanna Heat or something...), and somehow, perhaps through hero/henchman damage, they will die.
Please close this thread if this has been discussed or there is a reasonable explanation, but if not, has anybody else encountered this problem?

You do know that there are foes with 2 porfessions now?
I recently discovered that (^.^) while fighting some charrs. A Charr Flame'something' was casting Meteor Shower , my heros spammed some SF, which causes burning, and immediately after i have interrupted his shower he used Extinguish, which is a monk skill..
That leads me to the conclusion that you have probably faced some non-monk foes with some monk skills on their bar. For example Mark of Protection.

I noticed this too today, during the Bloodstone mission - it has bever happend to me before, but today without any reason I would start doing 0 damage to a monster, even though if I changed my target to another monster of the same type I damaged it normally, but when I went back to my original target I still did 0 damage. And it happend to all kinds of enemies, so I doubt it's a skill since skills are usually tied to race/profession.

same problem..but i've seen many different monster types do it, even destroyers. In particular, the spiders in asura territory do it quite a bit, even after the lifeweavers are dead (so it's not always shield of absorption).
and the self-rezzing mantids has got to be a glitch..their monster skill doesn't say anything about rezzing, so i don't think it's that.

i noticed this too, the whole mob was dead, no spirits or itemspells or anything. I would move away and just as i was about to leave aggro one would suddenly be alive, i'd kill it then it would happen with another.

They reduce damage, but I've held the button over the monster and sat there doing nothing to see what was coming off and while it can be hrad to read I didn't seem to spot anything.
THOUGH I have a thought, I had the earth mage with me when I hit a ton of invincible monsters, my thought...what if he's using that spell that reduces speed by 80% but they are imune to everything but air spells?
